Id say no damn character migration at least for 6 months seems a little unfair to general population of the server, after that maybe but with a set amount of gold.
Whats most interesting with this server is that it will have a better working economy, trading will come natural on this new server.
This may be the only reason that i might be interested enough to give it a try.

But I think it's not an good idea to start a new server. When you want to close the realm chat because of the high traffic you can create a global chat for english and another for different languages. The user can decide which chat he wants to follow.

Fact is: When we have to stay on Ra with our clan while new english speaking players start on the new server, it will be a hard future for us with less fun.

Having multiple languages is problematic at best. The idea of an english server is very solid- but we need to be able to take our characters, our equipment, and our xym over with us.

If we can't take our characters and gear, almost no one is going to use the new server.

And...I think having experienced players there would do wonders for promoting "new" users to come into the server.

Did NGD say they want us in the new server? No.
Did NGD say you cannot transfer your characters? No.

I haven't thought about this, but either the english speakers migration is massive ("balanced" realms population) or might as well forbidden it for the starting months because it introduces asymmetries of opportunities and advantages. Those who reached lvl 50 and are ubber geared when it was easy to lvl and drop items will have an unfair advantage, meaning, RP won't mean a thing and the game will be less attractive for newcomers.

People like yourself might feel a little alienated if a lot of english-speakers move to the new server.

i think its a good idea but not the best because some people have many langiuages and it will seperate many.....it is a good and bad idea at the same time

1) I'm assuming the server will appear on the Server list. If I create Chars on the new server will I still retain my old Chars on RA? (I think yes but wasn't stated in initial post)

I think NGD is making a smart move. This Change isn't geared as much to the old-heads, lvl 50 having Whiner-babies as it is to the newcomers who have a hard time getting help due to lack of Espanol. Come on guys...We migrate X# of newbs(currently on RA) lvl 1-30 then we Migrate our accts in and spend all our time warring and STILL not helping noobs??? Get in there lvl 1 Grow up with your friends and prove yourself....Again!!! Gain that new found respect....or just show you are a PTard who got by on bugs and exploits in Beta...
