have you found life anywhere in this universe minus what is in our own little atmosphere?
And I CAN make such a blanket statement, seeing as how there IS no evidence to the contrary. And, unless I have missed something, science has no evidence of intelligent life anywhere else. I dont mean theories (which are actually just hypotheses), i mean hard factual evidence. Absent the presence of such evidence, I am not flagrantly denying anything. |

so, your position of believing in alien life is based on faith alone.
"There MUST be, look at the huge span of time! I mean, there just HAS to be!" Any statistician can tell you the probability of life beginning on just one planet in the universe, without an intelligent designer. The number is so astrononically huge as to be considered "impossible" statistically. The probability of it happening 2x is impossible x 2. Or maybe "Impossible squared". |

I have more chance of proving life on another planet than you have of proving god as a divine being that was always there, always will be, has ultimate power, and controls an afterlife. The chances of your so called 'intelligent designer' (which is just pedantic rhetoric to begin with, trying to make people swallow 'god' more easily) being an alien life form is far greater than it is to being some mythological being with super powers. If we could go back 1000 years, with all of our technology and science, we would appear as gods to those people also. A more appropriate reference would be if we could go back now to the epoc where man first gained sentience and could realize the concept of 'me', and show off things that they could not even begin to imagine...Basics, such as lighters, televisions, cars, airplanes, basic tools of modern life, they would either fear us as demons, or worship us as gods. For the record, my stance regarding alien life has nothing to do with faith at all, its got to do with probability, which you so erroneously referenced. If it is possible here, it has to be possible elsewhere, no matter how improbable. Even 1 in 1x10^10 odds are pretty damn good when you are talking 1x10^36 chances. Your god could very well be an alien that evolved billions of years before earth was even around...just food for thought. Does it change what 'god' means to you? It shouldn't. Don't worry, the very reason demon monger started this thread was to watch people flame, im just playing along We all have our own opinions and are entitled to them, so dont let me deter you from your beliefs Brian, im just pointing out flaws in your logic. :P

I'll play along too.... lol
There is absolutely no reason to believe in life on other planets, except hopeful fantasy. There is at LEAST as much reason to believe in the Almighty as you have presented for aliens. The rationale you have employed can just as easiley be used to endorse the MERE POSSIBILITY of the existence of a Supreme being, such as the one described by the many authors of the bible. We at least have corroborating evidence over the course of centuries in that regard, evidence of a being that not only "visited" the people on earth, but communicated clearly to them, and gave instructions for them to live by. Aliens have no such corroboration. Unless you really want to trust the testimony of the likes of Billy-Ray-Jack and his cousin-wife Brandine. |

no, no, no
you [edit]skeptics[\edit] are taking it wrong. What about all the evidence collected by normal ppl who has experienced such beings? There is a lot of people out there that will swear they have been contacted. What about that? huh? are they just stupid? liers? ppl wanting to catch some attention? genuine contacts? all of above? If this turns into a boring skeptic chat, i will be forced to bring the heavy weapons. So, believers, please expose some evidences.

Contacted how? Anal probe? Not really "effective" communication there.....
I already posted my opnion above.... that people who have "experiences" may be re-living theire birth experience. It accounts for many of the sensations, especially given the physiology of the newborn child. The rest are probably a hodge-podge of the stupid, the liars, and the attention-whores. |
