Everyone should also consider that this game is played by people of many age groups, so ask yourselves: how would you react if you were, say 7 years old, and someone entered the game (that is in your language, and you have been talking to people in your language) and started writing gibberish (you're 7, how many 7 year olds understand anything but their mother language?). For that matter, how many 12 year old learn other languages?. I don't know in other countries, but in Argentina english is not usually important, it is just one more subject you have in school, just like history or philosophy. There are places to learn, but not everyone understands that english is the internet-language.
I just hope no one gets angry with me for discriminating small children, they just don't know better.

My personal solution is Spanlish - or may Espanles with a lot of help from http://translate.google.com
If everyone ( - that is a totally worldwide, utterly indiscriminate everyone - ) just learns a few words when they can we'll all be speaking uninteligable gibberish to the great relief and amusement of all point is - we try, others try - no reason we can't get on and we have no problems levelling with people who have no more idea of english than we do of lithuanian - it's still fun. Kids will be kids - and sometimes adults will be do, just let it slide off unless its outright insulting in a blatant and nasty way and just remember: Ignis _is_ full of spongecake and love Illandria, Conjurer, Ignis. |

Sorry for my english ,is very bad, but I will try to explain that. When I am playing and other player speaks in english, many people say:"que ha dicho?" In others words:"what he said?" Many players don't know speak english anythin. Others, speak very bad, but, have fun speaking (or trying) whit everybody (that is my case ) See you in the game! Kill or die , muahaha ;D~~~~~~~

I have had some great experiences with the community on the game. I have been learning some Spanish recently and I have loved trying it out in game. I have amazed myself as to how much I really have learned. The Spanish community have even tried speaking English. It has mostly ended up in Spanglish. Its excellent. I have seen Italian and German on the chats as well. This is one of the only games I have played with such a diverse community. love it

Someone in this thread asked "why can't they speak english like the rest of the internet?", i read a thread where a guy wanted to split servers even. I did not speak a word of spanish before i started playing Regnum, now i can at least understand what people talk about and even contribute myself. I really love it. I would not want to change it at all. I hope the game stays like this for ever (concerning the languages at least ). There was only once an occurrence where a guy flamed me for talking english in the realm chat. Besides that i have never met any player, be it spanish or other nationality who abused me real bad. At least in Ignis |

Shut up, Rainman
I told you that because you were rude, not because of you being Serb.
A Serb feeling discriminated ... I've seen it all. Cos |

Well, muunleit, part of what you are saying is not true.
You and your pals were quite heavy on the global before I complained. True, it was all general-interested related and I already apologized for coming at you like I did. (I see you forgot to post my apology). Instead, apparently, you prefer to linger on it. So be it. Incidentally, I also believe the more languages used in Regnum, the better. And, in all sincerity, there are people who are really abusing the global much worse. Cos |

The fact for us is that we have a terrible time with languages but survive on one simple truth - there are 3 major lingual bases in Europe & the Americas:
Latinate, Germanic & Slavic We've never been kicked from a party - ever. we also have the luxury of another computer to run a translator on while we're playing. In our experience, effort breeds effort & good will breeds goodwill. There are some languages our translator cannot do (sorry to all Serbians - but we do have a tiny smattering of a slavic vocabulary to build on, wrong language but its a start ) Likewise, we get dreadfully confused flipping between Portugese, Spanish, French & Italian - Its a slow process, but we're learning the lot - very very badly what a wonderful, hilarious experience.
