It does not work WITH the Steam version. You are not understanding the error code properly, I think.

And you dont understand what was download to nonsteam version.
Error say cant connect to server but if you check ips and etc you will see where is problem.

Well, I tried to log in as well, getting the "user already logged in" stuff as well

No matter what reason, this sucks big time.
If a company offers a game that players pay money for it should work.

From what people are posting its beginning to look like the servers have been hacked, and quite badly. This could lead to weeks of downtime, NGD will not be happy.
