I've had the privilege of seeing the A-10 in actual combat and the group I was assigned to in the US Army used them for air support quite a bit (those and AH-64s). It's like calling your big brother when you get into a fight with a bully

I'm not really familiar with the light trainer/attack types. All our familiarization dealt with warsaw pact vehicles and equipment.
