There really is something to what you are saying Radian. Edit: I'm not suggesting ignis is doing anything here, I'm saying trolls are behaving like trolls. Most of the problem players never get to a high level - when they get on enough ignore lists they just make new characters. Ignis gets talked about in alsius chat the most (give they've opened the portal - what 12? 13? times now this shouldn't be a surprise) more than syrtis does. So trolls just try to cause trouble by telling new players to join what they have heard on realm chat. The quality of alsius realm chat has taken an absolute nosedive recently, I'm starting to look forward to when it is removed from the warzone. Last edited by Scaro; 03-22-2009 at 11:07 PM. |

Horus atm is wild wild west. Bug abusers, trouble makers, spammers, and other kind of unwanted players, can without fear do whatever they want to do, including stealing gems with bugs, because there is none who can stop them. Also, reporting lasts too long, sometimes there is no answer from ngd. also, ngd didnt do anything yet regarding Horus server, even though they pointed out its "priority". Horus became perfect place for many kind of parasites. And if situation doesnt improve, many good players AND customers will leave or take big break. Logging there once in a while some admin char to say hi to few users is not enough.
Ra has one very important advantage: most of the time you dont understand what other players are saying, while on Horus, you can understand every idiot. Ignoring each of them is not solution: 1) not knowing what person is saying can lead to fact that certain person is spreading false information, and you re not aware it. But other realm players can read it and can fall on that trick. This is especially for such important events, for example during invasions etc. 2) there wont leave many realm players who you can speak to, due to big amount of candidates for ignore list. 3) there is no ignore list, and remembering who you put to ignore can be pain, unless you write down every name on some paper Since NGD didnt show yet any kind of interest for Horus, and I m mostly alone on Ra, I dont feel like I belong here anymore. Yet I wont give up, but also my patience on waiting NGD to make their promises live is kinda near end. I suggest both of you to stay on Ra and share fun with friends you have there (and there are still many). But if you still decide to come to Horus, then welcome and I wish you good luck and a lot of fun.

Some new guy came into realm chat saying he was totally new and wanted some advice. The advice he got was that ignis is the noob realm, to delete the alsius char he just started, and to come back to alsius when he has more experience. All the poor guy could say was, "oh, ok, bye then.." This advice was from a lvl 11 knight for god's sake, who himself had no clue what he was talking about. I wanted to say something, but i did that the other day and lots of people jumped to the defence of the offender and there was a big row - i didn't want a repeat of that. Anpu is right: there is a feel of the 'wild west' about horus atm. Someone mentioned a chat moderator. While full-time chat moderation might be a bit OTT, i certainly think that someone from NGD should be keeping more of an eye on things there. |

It is unfortunate what happened to you but it has become rather common. Rest assured that had you gotten involved in helping the beginner you would have been flamed again. Beginner joins, says "hi" and gets insulted. All of the trolls online immediately join in. Worst part is most everyone else has no idea what's going on since they already had the trolls on ignore. Makes alsius look very bad. I'm sure you are aware of this from Ra, but you get familiar with most of the regular names so when new names start popping up and flaming people regulars know it is the trolls again but players new to horus have no way of knowing that. For a while the trolls were just lying to beginners. All questions of "where is..." were told Gokstad no matter what. Anyone trying to correct them would be flamed and overwhelmed as the trolls online all joined in. If you try to ignore them and just continue answering questions the trolls would begin spamming to make it difficult for you and the beginner to talk. The only thing I have found that works is private messaging the beginner (and pointing out the wonders of /ignore is good too). I guess lying to beginners got boring and they had moved to just insulting beginners. I'm hoping that telling new players to go to another realm isn't the latest trend. Until I read Anpu's post I had wondered why nothing was being done about something that was costing NGD players and money. Most regulars have the good sense to actively use the /ignore command, guess I'm a little slow. Trying to private message beginners and clean up the mess made by the trolls has sucked the fun from this game so I am now through helping out. Beginners be damned. |

I know that there are only 2 or 3 people on my ignore list but honestly I forgot the name. I will try to take more care of beginners now while grinding I think. Alsius got stronger lately, Saturday was the day I had most fun in a while. Getting a couple of new good players within the next weeks could make things very interesting.

Just so you know there are already certain players that have rights to kick people from chats. At least I know of someone in Ignis with that power.

This makes me sad. Yesterday i saw the realm chat escalading again and i tried to talk sense in to them, i think i was successefull that time and the chat calm down. If i had seen that specific conversation i would probably had said something again. Like many have said we are a few players that tries to help new guys as much as we can, but its hard to be on constant help duty. And douchebags like mentioned here makes it even harder for us to get new members to feel welcome. Guess i need to start guarding the realm chat for idiots like this and ask wtf they are doing.

"Kick Your Ass"
I admit i am one of the people that said that to somebody (cant remember who) this is due to the fact that there have been a lot of very rude noobs lately and i have had enough of people just coming on and being rude to my friends. As a person who never really played Ra i had no idea you werent one of these noobs and therefore reacted to defend my friend.
Apologies for offence caused.

Yes, that person you said you'd kick their ass was me on my healer. You said it because i suggested that people ignore your friend, who was being rude and deliberately annoying to Inkster. I also asked you what you thought about your friend's behaviour. You answered "lol i don't care". You say that you don't like people being rude to your friends? Neither do I. Inkster only came on to say hello and your friend went out out of his way to annoy him. If someone i knew was being rude to someone else for no good reason, i would ask them to stop. I would certainly not support them. Anyway, despite what happened people tell me you are a decent person, so let's 'shake hands' and forget about it. |
