I'm not bitching, just stating my opinion on the matter. I've played the game and I think it's one of the worse gaming experiences I've had so far.

I like PS, I used to play it as much as I do Regnum now. If Regnum didn't
exist, I'd be playing it now. It is open source, I have the server code up and running on my Fedora Core 3 Server, with mySQL, php, Apache, the gui front ends for the server console, crysatal space, the whole 9 yards. I can modify the code and add new content, I LOVE that about it!! I know everyone is a volunteer, that has pluses and minuses. The whole team is closed mouth about any problems, they don't want PS to look bad, many volunteers use PS as part of thier resume. If PS is bad mouthed, it's like you are critizing them directly, they take it too personally. They are so closed mouthed... It's like a religion to the volunteers and a lot of the players. Talad is the game's big cheese, and they always say, "Praise be to Talad, the server is up", or "Curse Talad, the server is down", LOL Quote from one of my previous posts in this thread: Quote:
his guild(clan), Valorius Rageway and his Guild(clan) these into the Syrtis Realm, I'm sure there are others I'm not aware of. These are ACTIVE gamers, not casual ones. They would support PS in the same way they support RO if that option were made available. They would be happy alpha-testers if they got the respect that they deserve from the PS team, and were kept informed. How can alpha-testers help if they are always kept in the dark by the "priviledged" in the know PS team, it's the us vs them mentallity. A sure fire way to lose your base when a better product comes along Long live Regnum Online, spread the good news to our oppressed brothers in the PlaneShift Realm ! I get addicted to comp games easily.
I would've no doubt gotten addicted to whichever on-line game i tried first. It just so happened it was Regnum. On the whole i don't regret it - the game is fantastic. Tho i sometimes wish i'd have gotten addicted to a game with less lag and crashing. |

I was just making a simple statement that my clan was moving over, and being nice and saying 'hi'. If you have a PROBLEM with that, you can speak to my QUEEN DIRECTLY. Her name is VALORIUS RAGEWAY. She WILL KICK YOUR ASS. (Level 50, btw)

The Darkness spell in Planeshift is supposed to put a dark cloud above the target's head, impeding vision. Instead, the dark cloud appears above the caster's head, accomplishing nothing. This bug has been there for over a year. Half the spells in the game do not function at all. Defensive Wind has never done anything. Bronze Door map in Linux client: 1/3 of the outside map is all black and untextured. There is a large triangular hole where you will fall off the map and die. This problem has been there since this map was made, over a year ago. Duplication bug: This bug, allowing anyone to duplicate anything including priceless Silverweave weapons was reported to Karyuu/Bakuun, even demonstrated to her. But she did nothing, while people abused this bug for over a month. 1/3 of the population had mysteriously become instant millionaires. The devs didn't lift a finger to fix the bug until some people forced them to, by dropping thousands of those prices weapons and literally billions of trias all over the land. Shields: Last time I was in PS, shields still did not work. They didn't work when I started PS two years ago. This is NOT fixing things in a timely fashion. Quote:
Though the Regnum server had a bad day last Sunday, this was right after they had a 7 day period of never crashing. How often is the PS server down? When it's actually up, the monsters are "impervious to attack" half the time because the NPC server isn't functioning. As was mentioned before, when the PS devs decided to update the server from 0.3.19 to 0.3.20, they took the server down for almost a week. They did NOT post in the forums why it was down, nor how long they expected it to be down. If someone asked, "Are you updating to the next version?" or "What's going on? We just want to know?" they would be abused by the forum moderators. They miss-treat their players (testers as they consider them) and don't bother to even post one sentence telling people they were updating. After the update, I heard that it was so bad that they rolled it back to the old version for several more weeks. Quote:

I wonder why he was banned (sarcasm.)
Ps was both bad and good, the good times were the rp the bad were with the system mechanics, and being very creative myself I've had good times there, I simply left cause I didn't think it was very good and saw a bad time for it coming. The only funny thing in ps(roleplay) is not even supported that much anymore. It's the community and the roleplay that keeps it together. There are a lot of other open source games that are good despite the fact the programmers aren't paid. A good one I can mention is Tremulous. It has like ps not made it's own engine but in this case it's very stable, balanced and fun. |
