Music and sound out of sync. Using PCLOS 2009. Since the last update of my distro, the game acts weird, with sound and music out of sync.

What could i do to fix it ???

Thanks in advance.

i got 2 problems (ubuntu 9.10)

the game doesn't have the sound...sometimes the sound appears all of a sudden..plays for some sec...then crackles...and then it eventually disappers again. I've searched the forum for solutions and tried some of them but nothing changed.

the other problem came up after the game blocked one time and i had to shut off the computer...after i log in and choose my realm the game loads and verifies the data and all goes well until it verifies characters.sdb
The loading blocks right there with "verifying characters.sdb".

Some ideas to solve these problems?

BTW: the fact that a good mmorpg like ro has a linux native client...rocks! Thank u guys.

The first problem is most probably caused by Pulse Audio, not much to do about it except uninstalling it.
There are various instructions for that on the forums I think.

As for the second problem, try deleting characters.sdb in your Regnum folder, that might help.

Default Logging out

Whenever I log out from the game (Hit ESC and choose Exit Game) I get the countdown until shutdown but at the end of the countdown when the game is supposed to quit I get a message of failed internet connection or something. Hitting 'Accept' on that screen does nothing.

To quit the game I have to open the system monitor and kill the executable (./game) via the sysmon GUI. Doing the "kill <PID #>" just won't kill it. Maybe if I tried with -force option it might.

Anyways, it's not fun to always having to kill the client manually.

I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 and even though the client tells me the cause is the internet connection failing I don't think it's in my end. My internet connection has worked nicely for a long time.

Yeah, the "connection has failed" message appears to be the default in the current client when you log out, but mine always exits when I hit "accept". I think this is a bug in the client, and it maybe that the client is not sending the correct kill messages to your window manager.

Same problem here. It just freezes. Even killing it manually doesn't work for me

Yes you do, you use ubuntu and ubuntu is filled with crap like pa (and worse) by default. Unfortunately, what Znurre suggested will probably break your whole sound system in ubuntu if you don't make a lot of manual adjustments to your system. Seeing that you're on ubuntu + you have no clue what's on your system I don't see how you could do this without causing even more problems.

Default Catalyst 10.X + windowed mode + shader 4.0 = Screen Corruption

I've made a thread with more details about this problem, I wonder if I'm the only with this problem
