An admin (I think it was Chilko, but i'm not sure) said in the spanish forum:

1. the new engine will be faster, it will perform better with the same hardware
2. Graphical options will allow to decrease detail to get better FPS, just like the current client
3. There will be a Linux version

I'm too lazy to search the post, but it would be nice if someone quoted it here.
