Netherlands, Sweden? ;] proving it can work. But it terrifies me what is happening there. Government taking kids away from parents for a little smack on the ass for calling a sister "whore". Burning dead bodies to fuel electricity in a city (no cemeteries needed, how convenient).

I couldn't live in successful socialism countries. I would die of fear. Even if consumptionism and capitalism are terrible too, at least I can feel a little bit better.

We won't. Ehm... I mean, machines won't (I'm human, really!), because socialism is a human political system. Machines work quite differently, maybe in cities resembling hives and with a very structured system that actually is one single conscious entity. Maybe they'll run a technocracy.

And we won't be exterminated by machines. In fact, it's cheaper to be symbiotic entities and make use of our bodies (which are incredible artifacts). Any sufficiently advanced machine knows that.



So, robot apocalypse is nowhere near. Beware of zombies, though (and here you will thank machines, they'll be our only allies while aliens run to their homeworlds).

That's because the socialism in the Netherlands, Spain, Chile, and many other countries is a democratic mild form of socialism. And saying that is a contradiction to socialism base principles (no materialist interpretation of history, class conflict, violent revolution as the only medium to acces the power, comminism as an historicaly inevitable fact), so the parties in the countries numbered really should be considered more like center with socializating tendences. The only times where "real" -between brackets because real socialism, as Marx or Lenin conceived it, was never implemented- socialism tried to become government, it derailed into totalitarianism. Piz, living in a ex-URSS country as he does, could say that much better than I do.
