Haven't lived long enough to know enough about "Old School" Rap

I wasn't really interested in it living on the east side as a white boy, but I can listen to it.

SoaD was amazing because a lot of people can regard them as bringing the two genres together, same with Linkin Park. That's why their music was accepted worldwide by so many people, because they mixed a taste for everyone, instead of being great at one genre, they were great at both.

If it has a place, there are a couple of rap/rock songs that go really nicely:

Static-X: Cannibal synthesizes a lot of industrial beats with metal, but the lyrics focus more on rap.

System of a Down & Wu Tang Clan: Shame on a nigga Again, guitars have a more drum like role of not doing the true sound, but the beats.

And if it counts,
Disturbed had a song recently that follows some rap; Facade for me isn't really rap, but the introduction chords are close, I think the rest of the song could be much better if it followed the beat thrash sync in the beginning. (The metal cans being hit in the background or whatever are amazing

)

Don't know if anyone cares, as I'm a noob in rap, might just be confusing thrash and industrial metal with rap, but wanted to add my tasteful input ^^

I don't think Linkin Park was good at anything, but that's my opinion.. neither rap or uh, metal? For me it was pop rock :P

I liked Mike Shinoda solo, like in here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10f2rAzxEF8

I don't see anything industrial or rappy in Static-X to be honest

And I don't see anything related to rap in that Facade track either

Haha I figured as much, was just testing the waters then ^^

Coming back to Mike, I prefer the songs less focused on rap, (But I guess they are appealing to people since the last album wasn't taken as strong for lacking rap) but I liked Nobody's Listening, so simple and freestyle. Not like rock where it can just get painful and too much to handle.

I'll admit the thing I like about rap is that the beat is usually always something that can be easily attuned to, with rock sometimes you just have a song where the riffs can be just plain annoying and too much. E.g. Dave Mustaine en Megadeth.
