Seriously, people mess it up with the stereotypes. France is the land of love, Italy the land of italians. Is it soooo hard?
No No No, France is the land of Nike running shoes, running away plays a huge role in France' history ;P

BTW: Why are girls more perceptive to the matters of the soul?

Advice:

Telling that to a girl = EPIC FAIL.

Well, we see now who is the thinker... Very well done fean0r!

And yes you are quite right - this logical conclusion that you have made (and quite beautifully made I might add).

These people talk about "love" but love is a human made concept...

Nature does not create such a thing...

Look at animals, very few are monogamous - very very few...

Understanding this fact should allow one to see that love isn't nature's surest thing for the survival of a species...

Hence, "[t]hey talk about 'mechanisms' but not about 'principles'..."

fean0r, you were the first to see where I was coming from... I like that!

For me, loving someone is wanting him/her happy.

Well, isn't this a nice surprise LenaRosemberg; for now you have added quite a lot in this one post... Very good!

Yes, if "love" was nature's way of keeping people together which would ensure the survival of the species why would their be animals that engage in homosexuality? Also, by the same token, why is there A-sexual animals?

There are a lot of animals, which are heterosexual by nature, that choose to engage in homosexual acts...

I used this scientific study as a back drop for a paper I did in human sexuality class: http://seedmagazine.com/news/2006/06...p?page=all&p=y

Give it a read and learn something children...

What is there to fear or can you not engage in Adult conversations (note how conversations are different from arguments)?

Love != Monogamy. You can love different people at the same time (parents, children, friends AND lovers)

Those are the different kinds of love I was talking about a while ago. Love is not bound directly to insctinct. Let me make myself clear: love doesn't depend on insctincs, it is a feeling (a series of signals to the brain, but "something more" than that for us, living creatures).

Human mind is too complex, feelings are too personal and the way we "build" our personality and world around us is so particular that trying to get a universal answer to the original question of this thread is impossible. We were talking about the things you can manipulate and test in labs, the body. You can discover what makes you "love", which chemicals play the main role of even if love and hate are the same feeling, but you can just guess about the soul.

I don't know if there's something more than just chemical reactions, if it's just a trick of the mind... But I can tell you that love is an unique feeling.

Well, 'love' doesnt always mature like fine wine, thats imho the 'american dream' thinking. Lately all I hear is brakes up, divorces etc etc, and from rly my nearest enviorement - in their case the 'feeling' aged like milk, leading to serious haterd.
And yes, sex with the one you care/love is by far better, but the biggest plus of a one nighty is - No responsibility.
