Default [Poll] Lore

Hey guys.
This has been mentioned quite a lot of times. We do need more quests. And we need to make quests interesting. The storyline is lacking as well.
So why not connect them all? Another thing that could happen is that there would be a library (Ex. In Fisgael, Polras.{PS: Give that elf some hair!})
where one can select books to read. Maybe a 2-3 pages of lore.

Lore

Alright. Not many like stories. That's fine, because this won't affect them one bit. But to those who care, feels that the game is missing something. Regnum has a lot of potential as it can develop in lots of ways.

So I was thinking some ideas how to make a background story for Regnum.

What will it consist?
  1. The origin of the realms. how they were formed and why.
  2. Where the races came from and how they got their names.
  3. How the Ignean and the Elven(?) war came to affect the realms.
  4. Realm Gems and their importance
  5. The Bosses and mini-bosses
  6. The villages/towns
  7. [Perhaps(Most probably)] How classes/subclasses were created.

This is what I have in mind.

Yes, definitely. There needs to be more of a backstory. If we do this, there will be a lot more ground for quests.

Before anything else I'm going to ask a simple question. What do you honestly expect from the people who added aliens in their medieval setting to increase ximerin sales?

Lore is very important in all rpgs, some people don't care about it while it is everything for others. Given this is a pvp game we can assume the average player cares more about the gameplay than story and roleplaying. So, with NGD as it is now I would prefer it left untouched. I mean, the lamai were a big wound to the already suffering story, we don't need more.

That aside, you can see from popular games, like WoW, The Elder Scrolls and many more, how well written lore can lift a game and improve its ambiance. I simply don't think we could expect such a thing from NGD right now. If I'm wrong I'd love to see some extended backstory to all the fighting.

+1 A well written story certainly makes a difference and distinguishes a good game from the boring average. However, with NGD struggling with the old code, bugs, and adding more content, the lore in RO gets a very very low priority. I've seen people suggesting ideas for background stories, and Piz's comic (though a fan fiction) is a perfect example. As you pointed out, Lamai were a mig mistake in terms of the game's setting and I'm affraid that it's not the last one...

I expect none Ferenna. See the thread in my Signature link. At least 75% are almost a must do for the game to potentially increase everything; activity, playerbase and sales. Am I expecting to see something? No. But I'd hate to see the devs saying we give them no ideas or we ask the impossible, etc.

Who really likes lamais except for their size? From all the threads that they'e suggested awesome race and ideas, they chose what it seems an experimented rabbit-rat.

My thought on priorty: This shouldn't not be the lowest priority, as it can easily tied to quests which can potentially make players stick around longer.
