Gems

I recently got brilliant gems in a quest.
Do they do anything special?
Or should I just sell them.

Hello!
If they are categorized as loots, you can sell them. If they are quest item, you wont be able to.
The only valuables or usable items (not to mention weapons and armors) are some rings and some amulets, which are NOT categorized as quest items.

Also can mages wear rings?

yes sell all loot

and all chars can wear rings and amulets
as u do more quests u will get some rings and amulets
