Few questions from a Newbie player :)
Hello. I'm new to Champions of Regnum, but I played it on linux back in the days, when it was called Regnum Online (spended like 10 mins, maybe). Now I'm back and I wanted to ask few things. Mostly about the game and gameplay
1. Is it worth starting? How big is the player base(In number of players, like 500 solid, active players)? On the first 2 locations at the beginning there was nobody to speak to. 2. It's mostly pvp based right? How's the pvp now and people fight in pvp? 3. Do I really need to buy a mount to move faster? I have the cash for it, but can I get a low speed mount from a quest or something? Every mount is the same speed, but different look? 4. Are there like builds for each class or you level up and just spend all point to have all spells till level 60 or I should spend point on certain skills? Please answer and I want to welcome all CoR community Thanks |

Welcome to CoR, hope you enjoy it here. In Haven, the answers are (imho):
1. You'll either like the flavor of CoR & develop a taste for it or you won't; it's really all opinion-based. Actual online #'s aren't posted by the devs, but to guess, I'd say depending on when you log in, the overall population is between about 15 to 25 at the usual lowest & around 90 to 100 at most peaktimes. A significant minority of these won't be active at war, they'll be questing, grinding, etc. trying to lvl up as you also should do. 2. CoR has those who like PvP (solo fighting) & it shows in their skillbuilds, but overall, CoR is mostly a RvR (realm v realm/many v many) sort of game. The entire endgame of CoR is this RvR & sadly, many give the game up long before they reach it & miss out on the endgame, max-lvl RvR which truly is the game's focus & fun. 3. Eventually, yes, you should probably buy a mount. All have exactly the same basic characteristics (speed, mounting time, unmounting time), but each has a different appearance & cost. 4. Each class indeed has a skillbuild that works best for it at any given lvl. Generally, at lower lvls, don't worry overmuch about it & use what weapons & gear game gives you & skill accordingly. Later, ppl in game or your clan (find one & join up) will help you with the specifics of this. Just ask in clan or realm chat. Each class/subclass trainer now has a 'reset' feature that allows you to change your skillbuild (for a cost of your lvl x 10 gold). If all else fails, experiment.... You're Welcome |

15-25 population? Are you kidding? There were over 20 Syrtis at the Alsius forts yesterday. That's not counting the others that remained in their realm. And that's just from one realm.
I haven't played it, but from what I hear, Ra's population far exceeds Haven's by a significant amount. I believe we can also play our Haven characters on the Ra server (needs confirmation?). Regnum has its ups and downs. A little while ago the servers were very quiet, but the last few days it has been non-stop, which is fantastic. I'd say jump on for a few days and see what you think. But don't base it on the PvE, that crap is boring. Regnum shines in its RvR (Realm vs Realm) combat. Mounts are very cheap and they're permanent once bought. I would highly recommend one as it makes running from fort to fort a lot quicker, and you'll be able to keep up with your team mates. The PvP combat is pretty good. I enjoy the spells, and different tactics. It's always handy to play all classes to get a feel of what spells they have so you know how to counter/defend them. Also, don't be put down by the 3 class choice at the beginning. Once you reach level 10 you'll be able to choose a subclass. This will unlock a bunch of new spells you can use. Hope to see you in-game

To my knowledge, Ra often routinely runs at peak server population (500 online), but Haven accounts are NOT playable on Ra, at least not the GameSamba (N. American restricted) ones. Ra doesn't even show in my loader as a world option. My NGD account (also N. American) also does NOT show Ra in the loader as a world option (hey, once upon a time, did it? IDR....) |

game isnt really dying, Haven is just the worst server
I kinda like the smaller fights tho, id hate to have to 'heal' 80+ goats.. that does not require skill imo just ability to spam /party (name) and area heals anyways welcome to our not so humble community, get a drink, or something thats not that strong if you're not a goat, have fun and get dead

If you want numbers play on Ra, but you want a tiny community play Haven.
PvE is terrible in this game and grinding will be the worst thing you'll ever do in this game. Aside from that you'll probably become addicted to this like the rest of us. The RvR/PvP is unique in this game and I've yet to find a game to replica it. If you have money to spend, shoot for it it'll make grinding feel a lot less painful, the people make this game so I'd try hard to get into a decent group of players for some kicks and giggles. |
