newbie chosing class
hi, i decided to play on the Syrtis side (call me a tree humper, i don't care).
what class of character do we most desperately need in the front line right now? what do each class do on the battlefield anyway? i know the warriors are the tanks. what's the difference between archers and mages? sorry for the newbie questions, but the guide's not very clear on this issue. |

Hello! Welcome to Syrtis!
IMHO you should choose the class that suits the way you play the best. There are quite a few descriptions available around here on what the different classes are. But I will try to answer your questions as best as I can. Archers vs Mages Mages are the slowest class but they are the only ones who have the ability to heal themselves and regenerate mana. They primarily rely on spells for dealing their damage. Conjurers have the added ability to summon creatures and heal their allies, while warlocks are primarily heavy artillery that are great at dealing heavy damage quickly. Archers generally have longer ranges than the average mage. Marksmen are heavy damage dealers while hunters can detect enemies or boss mobs and turn themselves and allies invisible. Hunters also benefit from several speed spells that make them the fastest class in the game as well as the ability to tame mobs as pets. They however do not have as many damage dealing spells as marksmen but their defensive spells make up for the lack of offense. I hope this helps. If you have more questions feel free to contact anyone from Inquisition. If you are looking for a clan, you are also welcome to join our crazy bunch. Just follow the link in my signature. I hope to see you in game.

In the case you choose to be an archer, i recomend you to choose half-elve and put the 5 points in dexterity (elves and half elves have the same dexterity, but halfs have more constitution)
At lvl 10 you can choose your sub-class (marksman or hunter). In this case, as a marksman myself, i strongly recomend you to pick it up. Syrtis has an over population of hunters, and playing a marksman is very rewarding (ask refetan, he used to have a hunter but made a marksman so he could have some fun at war too). |

it depends tyss, If you have adrenaline in your blood chose a warrior to rush them, if you then would liek to do the damage chose a barb as subclass, if not chose the knight who will tank and take damage from the enemy.
If you like to stand far away shooting at your enemies chose an archer, if you would like to deal damage chose the marksman, if you would like a stalking ninjatype petraiser chose a hunter. If you like to play with strategy use a mage, if you like to heal and help chose a conjurer, if you would like to do damage with it, along with control spells chose a warlock. Hope this helped, else you can reply again, send me a pm here or in game (angelwinged devil) or ask any other english speaking dude. Also if you need a clan speaking english there's the one I founded with the others in the clan, The guardians of power, there's inquisition and there's the order of daggers. Otherwise there's a clan registry in this part of the forum Hope to see you in game |

Hunter is great if you are not playing the game as much for social, and just want to go out and hunt people down. Very fast and evasive class, and one of the most fun, and can be very deadly if played right.
Marksmen is the archer you have to pick if you plan on making much success at a fort war. Marksmen have more range than hunters, do more damage regular shots, and have a whole slew of damage dealing spells to choose from. If you want fort wars marksmen is your class.

My 2p...
Marksmen are very useful for war, but syrtis has A LOT. No reason we can't do with more though. Warlock are also incredibly useful, and seem to be going out of fashion at the moment... If you REALLY want to play support and not do any damage yourself, more conjurers are always good. But conjus work much much better as a support class, a lot of people insist on playing them aggressively. Warriors of both types ain't much fun in war from my limited experience. Hunters are of very little value in war, but are a lot of fun and the only character that's really good by itself. |

If you really want to help Syrtis out I would pick Warlock. I think that is the only class that Syrtis really really needs right now. If we had more Warlocks it would help so much in war; especially when all of those alsius warriors rush us.
