Barbs : Questions regarding Armor/Grinding/Spells etc.
I have played all the different classes and seem to struggle most both PVP and when Grinding with my Barb circa level 41.
I play in the Alsius realm and the Inner beach is best place at this level to grind. So we have Kelonte, Aquantis, Golems and Saurians there. I've found the following threads useful: Guide to grinding your characters: http://regnumonlinegame.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=80467 Mob Damage types: http://regnumonline.com.ar/forum/showthread.php?t=72278 which leads to the question: 1) If I am grinding on the Inner Beach, should I downgrade my armor to something like the level 31 Ragnor set? (available from Tailor upstairs in Birka say). http://regnum.wikia.com/wiki/Arild_Brightstar See: http://regnum.wikia.com/wiki/Breastplates Slashing (Normal) - Kelonte Piercing (Good) - Aquantis/Saurian Blunt (Good) - Golem Most of my level 39-41 armor has bad or very bad for Slashing/Piercing/Blunt damage resistance, so perhaps this is why I find grinding at this level really arduous.... Now it appears you can also compensate for some of these things with passives too. So depending what you are grinding on it makes sense to customise your config too. Code:
Spell tree Spell Resists Good against Slashing Weapons Iron Skin Blunt Golem Piercing Weapons Bendable Slashing Kelonte (claws) Blunt Weapons Steel Temper Piercing Saurian/Aquantis (teeth/spear) Quote:
http://trainer.claninquisition.org/t...easeaaDzbnaaaa 2) So when blood-raven suddently talks about using TFB, does he switch weapons at that point to a two handed one? 3) Or will TFB still work with a sword? .... which then begs the question, "Is category of weapon you wield is not tied to spell book?". That brings me on to my next question: 4) There seemed to be quite a debate as to the best weapon for grinding. Nobody mentioned the new duel wielding weapons (one in each hand). A similar comparison for PVP would be welcome too. Later in thread it seemed people preferred spear over hammer and hammer over sword. (axe/mace etc goes where?) 5) In ascertaining which weapon is the best - there is also a section in the Regnum wiki talking about how to work out hits/second depending on weapon speed. This way you could compare a Fast to a Very slow weapon to see how much damage is dished per second. http://regnum.wikia.com/wiki/Weapons Code:
Speed Fast Medium Slow Very Slow Hits per second 0.53 0.40 0.31 0.26 Seconds per hit 1.88 2.53 3.19 3.80 Last edited by JGFMK1; 12-16-2011 at 01:48 PM. |

regarding armor:beast armor is fine in case of protection from mobs.
skills: weapon, 2h and warcries. as someone mentioned, you can just go 2 hit grind mode by having berserk and weapon magni(or tfb). weapons:doesn't matter which weapon you use. tho i had better times grinding with epic 2h v slow spear.

I can give you a couple of answers.
First, try to use this online tool (kit.snuggly1.com) to see how a different armor respond to the damage. I am not sure that a very good resistance is better than another armor with less resistance but with an higher armor value, use the tool and let us know. For TFB, you need 2handed or dual wield to activate it, otherwise it will not work, anyway an online test will cost you nothing .

I always liked to use a very slow weapon for grind, but only if you are able to kill the mob in 2 hits. <-- if this doesn't work switch to a slower weapon. Or ofc call in a conju with bless weapon and other buffs.
watch your mana. try to use Normal hits as much at possible. Most very slow weapons are blunt. At lvl 40-41 you can also get a vslow axe iirc. You are Above lvl 37 wich means you should always have warcries tree on 19 and berserk + overwhelming stngth at lvl 5. i think this is about the setup that i used at that lvl. http://trainer.claninquisition.org/t...aaufaaLFbnaaaa if you dont like this, switch to slash or pierc but keep using those same type of spells. (accurate swings/brutal impacts/agile manuvre and forcefull blow/guttling/south cross) At higher lvl you can also get Kick 4/5. its usefull for grind. About the armor, Armor is very important for warriors. Even tho it costs much.. i still recomend to buy the newest type of armor from the merchant. But dont worry to much about all resists and stuff, you will use the armor only 1/2 lvls anyway. Lowlvl grind is a bitch, it will be better when you are higher. Ask for a support conju and you will have the best grind experience of all classes ;P |

There is more than one answer to that:
1) It's the spell tree. 2) It't the type of damage a weapon can dish out 3) It's the type of damage you can receive from a mob (For piercing : teeth from animals/spears from Aquantis/Arrows when PVP etc) 4) It's how well a piece of armor deals with a particular damage type See: http://regnum.wikia.com/wiki/Damage When you click on an item of armor in your inventory it shows 5 icons under each other. The order is: Slashing, Piercing, Blunt, Fire, Ice, Lightening. Mobs generally don't dish out the last three. There are some Legendary ones that do - such as Ades. http://regnum.wikia.com/wiki/Ades (ghosts/phantoms etc probably do too). Different classifications of weapons dish out different types of damage: Spear, Sword, Rapier, Axe, Mace, Hammer etc - they all have similar icon(s) of one or two types of damage dealt. I also did a test on Amun - admittedly not an exhaustive test. I found that with level 31 Ragnor set - I did indeed sustain less damage against a Kelonte than with the higher level 39-41 armor too - which surprised me. - This was a 'normal' category armor resistance- so good on others is only gonna be better again... http://regnum.wikia.com/wiki/Breastplates Finally found answer to this... Dver Run. Vermil Shadowborn... http://regnum.wikia.com/wiki/Vermil_Shadowborn You were correct (omission from Wiki): Level 36 Armor 136 (+4) Normal (Slashing) Very good (Piercing) Good (Blunt) versus Ragnar's: Level 31 Armor 120 (+1) Normal (Slashing) Good (Piercing) Good (Blunt) But I saw no pauldron of this classification for sale... Osfrid in Birka has Level 35 one 136 (+2) http://regnum.wikia.com/wiki/Osfrid As a final footnote... For any of you searching for darned merchant that sells duel wielding (off hand) weaponry.. Here is the answer: http://regnum.wikia.com/wiki/Oddi_Fullglass Last edited by JGFMK1; 12-16-2011 at 10:50 PM. |

This would be useful if site updated for some of newer armor sets. Such as... Executor for Barb. (most of my stuff is that - & one Avenger). They don't have the Ragnar (or Beast) sets either. So it means a lot of fiddling around on about 30+ fields. (damn wish I didn't sell the Ragner set -always upgraded to best for level on other classes. Now gonna buy again...) I think you do not have to care about all of this.
I join pauluzz's opinion, to get the efficient grind it's better to use a weapon with the one you can kill mobs in two hits. Add to this the mana spell consumption, if you use slashing and think about using southcross you will have to grind with a mage for the mana (no dragon helm before level 50). |
