Default All textures are black-white :(

..and all players around me are stuck in the ground.

What could I try to do different? So far, I've un/checked "load ressources at once" and "force safe mode".

Running system: Latest Ubuntu Mint 17.1, 64Bit
4 cpus, 900 MHz (at least lscpu tells me so)
6 GB ram
graphic card: Intel 2nd gen core processor family integrated graphics controller (rev 09) VGA controller (whatever this is meant to be)
(laptop)

on Windows7, it had been running just fine.

Any help would be very much appreciated

If I were you, I'd ask for a new PC

If you see coloured spheres on your screen too, means your video card's gonna die really soon, happened to me too once

Around 2 and a half year ago NGD launched a new so called "improved" version of their graphic engine. Since then the game is only optimized for windows, Linux version has several graphic glitches, missing details (highest graphic detail level was never implemented in Linux version) and the most important issue: very poor performance.
Since this update especially on older computers the Linux version might perform so bad that it is just unplayable while you still can play using the windows build on the same machine.
Some users reported that even the Wine emulated Windows version works now better in Linux than the so called native version.
NGD had big problems to get the Linux port working after their Windows-only focussed graphic engine update in these days and more as fixing it "somehow" without paying attention to performance or issues with certain graphic cards or systems was never done in this aspect. Surak (at least at that moment appearantly the only developer maintaining the Linux sepcific code of the game) repeatedly said that they had no Linux machine in their office and were just crosscompiling the Linux binaries from their windows machines. That's why he had to test later at home

And I fear that since Surak left the company we can't hope for any more improvements.

But even if there is no good linux support anymore - aren't there some game.cfg commands which I could change? Anything I can try?

anybudy? :crying:

Activate "secure mode" (not sure how it is spelled in english game version) in the launcher options. This turns off most enhanced graphic settings.

It's 'safe mode'. You can enable it when logging in. I'm not sure but this cfg var looks like it:
Code:
vg_force_safe_mode = 1
