Hi Wudy!
Don't know if you still remember me (Tiamat) from playing back then. I am glad to hear you are getting along with your life again, as someone with a (different kind of) junkie mentality i can relate to your story All the best! |

Hey Wudy nice to see ya around here again
I too was a MMO addict when i was younger I would play 6-9 hours a day I neglected alot of people - I also began to mix playing with drinking and that made things worse. I was managing a restaurant but i couldn't keep myself stable - Drinking/smoking/gaming was all out of control I also went from 185 to 215 in weight it all spiraled out of control and we ended up selling the restaurant and i lost about 70% of my investment.. I then realized i needed to create a middle ground between gaming & rl Sounds stupid but i actually need 1-4 hours a day to relax and play a video game sorta unwind me I love going out and doing stuff but i also like relaxing and being able to do something less social I kept myself in perfect form by - 1-3 hours of gaming, - 6-7 hour work day, 1-2 hour exercise (walking/jogging - weights stretches ) I also tried to do something social every second day - Id play a few more hours if i had the time I needed to find that perfect balance. Only tip i can give is you need to push yourself. In the beginning it's difficult but after a while it becomes much easier. Don't forget some people may view it as "wasting your life" but if you enjoy it that's all that matters. But too much of anything can be unhealthy. Hope you take care Wudy

I have gaming addiction too. I often play over 4 hours every day and it affects my sleep and my grades. I may quit regnum for months and come back just to play 2 hours a day for a week and quit again for no reason other than boredom, but I still dedicate too much time to other things. I can relate -a lot- to this post.
I do belive I'm getting -slowly- better, but I know I have a problem and I'm seeing a therapist to work on any underlying problems that might be causing that addiction. I try to keep an open mind, like you, and that's pushing me foward, recognizong and admitting problems and working on them actively. Something that works for me is talking to other people about the things that I need to do today, for example, today I have to get started with an assignment for college where I have to carve carton in multiple layers to show some composition skills, much like a monet painting. Shit I'm crazy. |

It's so good to hear from you Wudy! You really were one of the nicest guys playing. You disappeared so suddenly.
Of course I understand, and can sympathise with the reasons, but nonetheless it's great to hear that you're well. Do you ever think you'll make a return to RO? Be that in the foreseeable future, or when you've kicked the habit?

Wudy,
I'm glad your making strides man and I truly do miss our hunts. I think the only reason I'm not a MMO (or Regnum) addict is because my wife is too damn demanding of my time. This weekend I shoveled 5 cubic yards of dirt, 3 cubic yards of mulch, planted, laid 5 pallets of grass and I don't know what the hell she wants tomorrow :P Point is, video games are much like anything else in life - do it in moderation. Food, alcohol, etc ... moderation. For some it's hard, really hard and it requires finding something that fills the void. I wish you the best and you know I'm always here for you when you need a friend dude. |
