Talking GameSamba claims that +1% CS gems are bugged - Instant ban for (ab)users

Apparently somebody did "real tests" and came to that conclusion.
Don't believe me? Read it for yourself.

We already informed NGD about this problem and they are doing their best to fix it as soon as possible.

Please stop using this gem to take advantage of others players.

If a GM or other authority catches you in the possession of a weapon with 1%CS Gem...

YOU WILL BE BANNED ON THE SPOT.
WE HAVE A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY ON CHEATERS.

There is no room for players on Raven who cannot play fairly.
I wish they treated Precise Block bug abusers the same way.

To be honest, I haven't tested it yet, but it's an obvious fact that:
0.5s / 1.0s <---- No CS
0.4s / 0.9s <---- With 1% CS
0.3s / 0.8s <---- With 21% CS (21% is, according to the user who made the tests, said to be what 1% CS gems are giving in reality)

(Feel free to correct me)

Also, take this thread as some kind of journalistic() report, hence why it's in The Inn.

The conditions under which this works:

1. 1% cs gem socketed into a staff (maybe other weapons, haven't tried yet)
2. NO other cast speed bonuses on ANY other piece of gear.
3. Arcane Devotion active.

My conjurer casts .5s spells instantly and 1s spells pretty quick with such a small bonus, but higher cast time spells seem to have very little effect. Seems like just shitty cast speed calculations

So we get banned for using a +1% CS gem?
That seems a bit extreme to me

Any amount of CS causes 0.5sec spells to be clamped to nearly-instant cast and allowed to be cast while moving. Internally, I assume the game simply represents cast times by rounding to half-integers, so "0.5sec" is 1, "1sec" is 2, etc. So it is not possible to go below 0.5sec without clamping.

This is not an exploit. It has always been this way, and is why archers and warriors seek CS gear on their pauldrons. Furthermore, it is the whole point behind using spells that are "nearly instant" such as Will domain, Crystal blast, Winter stroke, and similar. Because even 1% of CS on gear, they can be cast without the character becoming "cemented" to the ground during the cast time, and as an extension are not easy to cancel by moving.

The reason Arcane devotion factors into this is lowering 1sec spells to 0.5sec which allows this mechanic to work for them.

It wasn't always this way, but this is it.

I noticed this behavior ages ago, it was introduced in the update where they changed the way CS and AS bonuses work (IIRC when they nerfed SM mages?). Basically, there is a minuscule difference between using a +1% CS bonus and a +21% CS bonus, it's just so small that you can't feel it because of the way the values add up now.

+1-4% CS gear for warriors and archers is enough to make a noticeable difference in casting times, and there is no point is collecting gear to hit anything above that. I thought everyone knew or had at least noticed this by now.

In short, it's just shitty calculations. The old system was better.

Lol? Seriously is this working, or is this another kind of bullcrap just an excuse to ban dedicated players?
