View Full Version : The pitifully slow life of a knight

I killed the marksman with a little help and in the pointless minutes that followed trying to catch a hunter, the marksman was able to ride all the way from alsius and join his pal to do the usual dps carnage that seems to ignore knight armour. Four blocked in there is a record I think, good job I have that shield, right?

Knight is almost always a great RvR class; those protective auras really rock & truly make the difference in a close fight ... BUT ... it is utterly shameless how helpless a knight is in any pvp fight other than one in which both participants fight to the end & fight to win, not escape. Result is usually the same: either knight dies eventually OR his enemy runs away & gets away. Dark & Luvadri seemed to routinely ignore my knight buffs & armors w/o a debuff. IDKY. Taking 'spring' away from knights was a bad call imho. I'd return 'spring' to the class & compensate by lowering somewhat the %-effectiveness of def. stance & Ao1.

There also may be other & better overall ways to balance the class as this community has spoken in many threads at some length on these matters already. The knight class is plagued by certain bugs as well, all documented here in forums as well. Also already stated (by yours truly) as a fix: all realm jewelry needs to become a fully-AFTER-all-calculations-add, so that %-based damage spells & the classes who have them don't get an unfair damage-boost advantage unavailable to other classes w/o that kind of spell. Many have also long contended that a proportional rework of the armor/soak system is required, especially since the new lvl cap & higher armors, etc., etc., ad naseum....

personally I find knight being fine the way it is. (besides the bugs.. PB, switching stances :( )
so w/o considering the bugs.. knight is great, auras, defence, being able to help an ally
with surviving/dispelling or knocking opponents
not to mention the wide area of spells, which warriors just have, usefull spells.
2 trees with immobilizes and nasty bonus effects and 1 for pure damage
knight is deadly, once you get caught by a knight you best be an insanely lucky person
or have allies to save you from their chains of immobilize, knocks and/or dizzy

now the key word here is 'ONCE' knights are pretty slow yes?
that seems to offend most people. Somehow they seem to want a knight to rush players
(honestly with that visuall amount of armor, thats like making little rats jump and knock people down
OHHH wait... NGD trew away the little bit of logic, forget this argument)

I for one dont think knights should be the next OP class, rushing about catching
hunters with their spring+spear+feint combo (which really seems like knocking some1 from 5m range)
knight to me is a challenge. you either support an mage/archer with onslaugth to get him to ivy/freeze
your target or you work together with another warrior and you both rush that nasty person

knight just requires a little more than being alone. not that being alone is bad for a knight
many gankers have proven me that knight isnt all that bad alone.
knight is just more interesting with a partner.
not to mention that running around ganking is more for locks, marks and hunters

as for the running away.. that happens to me on all classes, more on conju than knight tbh
