View Full Version : How do conjs generate rp?

Does anyone know the breakdown of how rps are split up when it comes to conj skills? I ask because I do not understand how I can get so little for doing most of the work so often. For example, in a small skirmish (say 3v3) I would DI and dispel and life saviour people about to die, mind push a rushing barb, not die myself even though everyone is hitting me, and other various crowd control, while healing. And then when at the end of the fight and the enemy 3 are dead I would get maybe 3,3,2 rp or something like that. So if the 66 rp from the enemies are split between us 3, I've done ~10% of the work?

I see a few other conjs play, and they play with more or less the same style I do (heals/buffs/mental cc). We're equally active. But they earn maybe 10x more rp than I do even though I am involved in a lot of WINNING fights. I just do not understand the rp generation system. Sometimes I will do ~500 damage to a target and get no rp, and sometimes I will synergy bond (2) an ally once and get like 3 when he kills someone.

Help?

Why you care for RP?

Ranks prove nothing - just play the game and have fun. :rolleyes2:

I wouldnt know about % and stuff like that, so I dont really know how we (conj) get rps exactly or what triggers the amount

but I do believe it comes down to this:
every buff that is lv 4/5 will get you credit
except when your allies use a spell to attack the enemy right after your heal/buff
than you lose all build up credit

For example, you buff up a barb with DI, bear strenght, bless weapon and trow in a precaution mass regen
he runs up to the group and the first thing he does is cast roar to prevent himself from being swarmed
all the built up 'credit' for which we wouldve gotten about 6 rps if he had used a normal hit is gone

as for your own spells on enemies, non-damaging spells (as thats most of our mentals)
need to be lv 4/5 if you want credit from just using that spell only
you wont get more than 1/2 rps

If you want to farm rps, use areas
mana pylon, communion, mass dispel, mass regen, mass heal
and use mind push at lv 4 *spam it*

ofc you will get a huge mana problem doing that,
but you want rps and its harder to focus on your mana bar
or allies hp bars when you got to mindpush the heck out of the enemy frontline too :p

Almost correct from Rising_Cold.
Buffs and auras generate RP by spell level 3, I'm not sure for the offensive part.

A pretty safe way to gain RP is to spam dispell 5 on any ally barb in range. Ofc this is the only way to use dispell to its full effect. Disadvantage of any aura below 5 is that your allies only gain the reduced effect of any aura as long as yours is active - but don't mind, you'll get some RP!
Care: Normal heals don't seem to generate RP as well, so don't mind wasting points here.

Above sentences may contain sarcasm. 7 years of playing mostly conj may have this effect on any support player.

So true, was awesome playing conj during the World Cup event >.>

Also, bless5 & bless weapon5 get a mage rp's & wm-kill credit too, like those others already listed above.

I don't have issues with not gettings RP (or not getting much) if it wasn't for event rankings scaling on those points.

It's a bit troubling to get to WM status, but mage WM is pretty strong and reaching that status should be at least a bit of a challenge. And it's enough to get 1 RP to make players count for the related quests, so thats not a huge problem as well.

This really isnt what I was hoping here to hear, because what I'm understanding is that to get more rp I need to do stuff either for nothing or inefficiently.

Shouldn't ngd fix this?

No, the efficiency lies in how much fun you can take away from the game. RP is nothing. If you have been brought up in the way where they have preached you anything else (and still some old timer idiots do), then you have been mislead. There is no such thing as giving/taking RP, it's all bullshit. You will figure it out sooner or later the more you hang onto the game (unless you turn into one of these old timers).

Having said that, it is similar to clearing necro, the more dispels and direct heals you can apply to an ally who inturn defeats a target, the more possibility of you sharing his RP contribution towards the target. And if this is achieved with multiple allies, then the sharing gets more spread out too.

its only annoying when you go for killquests without areas
(i usually just went for a precaution mass regen to get me credit)
the rest is just good conju-ing

if you're trying to get noticed you should give up right away
people only notice conjus when something goes wrong :harhar:

it is fun to try and reach the rankings ofc, but dont ever let that mess up your playstyle ^^

as to NGD fixing it, there has been lots of talk about it already,
I still feel like spells shouldnt cancel out all of the built up credit
but thats mostly because we play on a small server and getting killcounts wasnt always easy

seeing how boringly easy it was to just farm rps and killcounts during the event
(I just played with my normal setup during event.. tho abusing mass dispel xD)
i noticed that its not nescesary to change it for killcounts, and that was the only 'important' part
you just need a big group to support, and enemies who will come back
(seriously, rps mean even less on a supporting charachter ^^)

I don't play conju but think that not getting kill credit is a problem for the following reasons:

1) Kill quests in RT boards help the slow lvling to 60. If getting kills is more difficult for conjus despite the work they do (emphasis on despite, i.e. if they are playing well etc then they should be rewarded for it), then that's not really fair.
2) WC quests - again, these are kill related. Difficult kills, difficult to get to WM.
3) Events.

If the kills are relevant to all buffing/areas/healing done then fair's fair. If not though, it would be good to have a more representative kill recognition.

A conjurer (level 60) and me (level 47 barb) fought four level 60s (3 marks, 1 conju) and three of them died, one marks ran away. I think one low hunter joined very late in the end but not sure. This is the summary

http://imgur.com/gfdsusY,Ukm5NGR#0

I was prebuffed with Material Wall(5) and I got DI later in the fight. It was all direct heals and two Life Saviours. I got a total of 16+12+15 = 43 RP out of a possible 66. The conjurer got the possible remaining 23 RP (6+10+7) or could be 1 or 2 less due to that low hunter. So roughly he got 30% of the contribution value.

Rising_Cold

you start off with a normal hit, so the prebuff stuff counts for credit (suprisingly ;) )
the same goes for everything after with exception for the 2 syn. bonds at the end
not that lv 1 wouldve given anything

so your conju was very lucky, and looking at how few support he gave you at the start
im guessing he was busy with bees and manaburning the archers
or keeping them busy in other ways :)
(or he showed up later, or he was confused and standing still, oh the posibilities xD )

solong as your ally doesnt use spells on enemies you can get lots of rps
i sometimes end up with 6/7 rps from a kill some1 made, most of the time its just 1/2 tho ^^

Yeah, the fight was behind Aggers near trap door and so I went out first with Material Wall on me, and began fighting them alone. The conju stayed in and came out after I had lost half my hp and then used Life Saviour. Hence the delay xD

And I doubt he did use any spells on them, as he was treehugging a lot and hopped in and out of the trees only after he had regenerated enough mana for Steel Skin probably.

Maybe just pick a few players to support to earn your RPs ;)

Jokes aside, this was an isolated example to show conjus can earn decent (using it sparingly) in small fight compared to supporting a zerg. But regular conjus playing in zergs however play to support the group more than with the intent of RP anyhow.

I made rank 3 in Ra one week on a level 53 conjurer, earning 10799 RP. The top was a barb with 17K, and the nearest other conjurer had 4077 in that week.

This was done with a really silly build spamming mind push, energy borrow, bless weapon as much as possible, spamming areas, and so on. I specifically buffed barbs who were hitting enemies.

http://tinyurl.com/knx9nn8

In no way is this even a good build at all, but it is so easy to stand at the back buffing the damage dealers to make RP.

My current normal war build is very simple, and makes hardly any RP per kill (maybe 1-2 per kill, max of 4-7 if I really spammed some dispel and such).

Instant buffs like dispel and bless weapon earn the most RP.
