This is to all of you video makers out there....

I would like to post some Regnum vids on youtube, and am learning how to edit and such. I tried using Windows Movie Maker 6.0 on windows Vista, and I looked for the speed up video clip option everywhere on the program, and I can not find it anywhere. I remembered my old Windows XP comp had a lot more effect options on Windows Movie Maker, so I decided to download the old version on this computer. Well turns out it has the options I was looking for, but the videos take sooo long to save, and it won't save in nearly as good of quality as the original video clips had.

Is there a free and safe program that I can use to edit videos, where I can still add music, speed up and slow down, and all the other customizable options? Seems many of you here upload videos with plenty good enough quality that you can see what's going on at least. Would love to upload in 1080p or whatever it's called (I'm a noob with electronic technology, my preferred video games other than Regnum are NES - N64). Perfect high definition quality would be awesome, but I just need to post vids that aren't just a bunch of blurry pixels. I want the viewers to enjoy watching.

Any help is much appreciated. :beerchug:

I use the built-in WMM on Windows 7 (ultimate edition) for all the videos. Though it is basic, but it's still good enough to get the job done.

The option to speed up/down can be found under the Edit tab.

The higher the quality you prefer to save it in, the longer the process and the bigger the file size, and of course also depends on the length of the video.

I use the default HD settings that WMM provides for.

I find with WMM on Windows 7 you can only add 1 animation and 1 effect to each "clip" - so I find myself making a lot of snips.

If you're looking to do some serious editing you could "buy" Sony Vegas. It takes a lot more effort to make videos but you have much more freedom and options.

I'll see if the microsoft website has a download for the winows 7 version, that is compatible with windows Vista. If so, I'm going to try it out. The old version took way too long, and it didn't add all of my selected clips to the collection.

WMM 6.0 is terrible, it seems to only have options to either make subtitles, or fade in/out effects.

I'll post here if after I try it out. Thank you.

Well I finally found the speed up/down option on WMM 6.0, so I was able to make a video...

Yet it seems no matter what I do, I just can't win when it comes to electronic technology. :crying1:

After the 2+ hours or so it took to upload the video to youtube, even after saving the video in high definition... the quality on the youtube vid sucks, and for some reason the picture is tall and skinny like a cell phone video. What am I doing wrong?

Edit- Nvm about the quality, I guess sometimes it goes by how fast your internet is at the moment. I just need help with making the video wide, instead of tall and skinny.

You can "Split" clips to make it a new clip. There will be no delay in the video, and it will run as a seamless video, but you will be able to add independent effects and animations to that clip.

Currently it seems you can add 1 animation + 1 visual effect to each individual "clip" - you can also add captions, which should be used if you have any information you want to appear on screen at a certain time in the video. You can add titles at the start, end or between clips.

You can practice with it and get used to clipping a lot lol. Generally all you'll need to do is speed up some clips if they're slow paced.

You should also go to "Project" tab and match the aspect ratio to your monitor ratio (or regnum window ratio if they don't match).

If you have any specific questions feel free to ask me here or in game.

I guess the only real thing I need to know is, when I go save the video to the computer, I need to know what option to save it as... So that when it's viewed on youtube, it takes up the given space of the video screen, instead of being tall and skinny like a cell phone vid.

I can't remember what I saved it as, I just know it was some 1080p option I believe.
