So, why was it removed in this WM jewel update? It was a nice incentive to war and level up together. Is this somehow tied to the upcoming leveling update? Or you just missed it or it got bugged or... Some clarification would be nice.

There still seem to be a reward when recapturing a fort when enemy has captured 2 of them. Both exp and WMC (300).

If i remember correctly the reason is because we now get an increase in exp for defeating enemies. Also the wmc reward was removed for holding fort because we now get wmc reward for defeating enemies.
Was expecting a greater increase though. At the moment from what i have seen its about 500exp greater...not enough to replace exp given from forts.

Hi!

It has been intentional, and the main cause of it being the fact that it was simply boring to just capture a fort and well... just wait until the reward came in.

The exp change can be higher or lower depending on the type of fight. Since it's now a fixed amount for a significant contribution to the kill, you get more exp when doing a small percentage of damage to a lot of enemies. In large fights with many area attacks, this is probably an increase.

On Haven, with our small population, I'm getting far less exp in war than before the update.

you can now deny an enemy a reward by either fighting and winning, or by not fighting. have a fort cap without a fight give half xp, and there will be more action, because capturing a fort will again give a reward. just make sure the reward is significantly higher when there is actually a fight. There's not even a need to have it give wmc. Just xp (and gold if applicable)

Others have noticed that the exp for killing enemies has actually decreased, not increased, when using an exp scroll. Shethe person was getting 500-1000 xp for killing an enemy (with the scroll active), and now is getting 200-300 (with the same scroll active).
