I have a question. What is the Drop Rate from killing creatures?

I think i'v figured it out by doing some calculations on my calculator but i'm not sure how much your level changes your drop rate percent? Or maybe the type of creatures you kill, plus level, plus the type of quest? Quests keep count of your kills so this is way i'm asking maybe the quest changes something too?

Well i think the best people that can answer this are the developers etc so this is really a question to them for the most part.

Thanks for reading.

Few days ago I was grinding my necro off and in 5 minutes dropped 5 items from which 3 were good enough to sell it in AH. Strange, never had that insane drop rate.

I did not calculate the droprates. but from my experience you drop something every 50 mobs or so. On level 50+ that is... droprates on lower levels seem way higher.

The problem I have with the droprates is that it's nearly impossible to drop something over special rarity. You grind your char for days on mobs and all you get are white/special lvl 50 staves... that is really unrewarding in my opinion

I would like to ask you how many epic or legendary items you have dropped so far while leveling one character to level 60.

I recently decided to get the aquantis destroyer achievement and after 500 mobs I dropped 3 staffs. Hows that for drop rate lol

Here's what i did to find out the drop rate: Data is on photo with a photo for each drop. Let me know if you don't understand something or have something to add. :]

My conclusion but not my definitive conclusion is that the drop rate from that specific creature quest at my level 56 knight is 2.7% out of 100, give or take. Meaning that these drops may not drop at your first 100 kills or your first 50 or 60 kills but it will from what i'v seen be gathered up to give you around 15 drops out of 556 creatures killed. So my question is really does your level change how much you drop?

Also notice that almost all of those 15 drops are junk except somewhat that Barb Helmet. Also whats with those level 46 drops from a level 57i think creature? That makes no sense. e.o

As I said earlier the drop rates seem to decrease the higher your level is. When you create a new char and start to kill mobs you will get a drop every 5 mobs or so (atleast it was that way 2 years ago)

I'm not sure if gems count as drops like weapons and armor do.

Lvl 60 mobs dropping lvl 50 gear is just stupid, you are right :D

But it's good to know that droprates are about 2% for lvl 55+ chars... and that is for normal(white) gear... with the killspeed of a normal regnum char ( +-15sec per mob) that would be 12.5 minutes for one drop... not incuding resting time.

It is obvious that drops decrease the higher you go by the simple fact of creating a new character in starting zone. My question is more precise. What is the drop rate at level 55-60 and at around that level how much does it change and to what %? And if possible to get: What is the precise percentage of drops at all levels? I can find this out by simple tests at each level but that will take time. I prefer to get the answer already. q.q

Also as you can see from the data shown, i'm trying to find out the pattern of how spaced the drops are from one-another. I think with a few more tests i'll have a good understanding of how the pattern is in terms of how spaced drops are dropped from each other.

I'm going to kill some Crystall Golems with my barb now and provide lvl 60 data later xD

You think there is a pattern? Sometimes you can't drop anything for 200 mobs but then you kill 5 mobs and dropp three times... that is what i have noticed but i think its as random as a computer game can be.

Back in the day when you killed monsters wich were nothing to you(10+ level below you) you could get a huge amount of drops. So I'm thinking droprates have to do with your level and the level of the mob you are killing.

Drop rate doesn't matter if you're not getting anything good to use. This is why this game will always be Pay2win. I can't remember the last time I dropped a epic or magical good item that I actually used.

However NGD has stated in the roadmap that they will add dungeons for the
future. My hope is that they add new creatures that require party of lvl 60s to kill. Also new bosses in these dungeons. These are called raids in other games. The gear that's dropped from these raids need to be as good or even better than what you get from buying diamond boxes to counter them. As of now the gap is retarded between players who can't spend lots of money on boxes to get decent items.

Killed 500 Giant Crystal Golem
(Easy) with my lvl 60 Barbarian

0. Hammer lvl 48
3. Staff lvl 52
15. Hat lvl 51
38. LHand lvl 58
87. Arrows lvl 56
118. Shield lvl 59
169. Braces lvl 57
187. Staff lvl 47
217. Shield lvl 56
254. Staff lvl 56
344. Pants lvl 56
369. Arrows lvl 52
401. Gloves lvl 54
468. Braces lvl 55
487. Staff lvl 52

This is what I got:
15 drops at 500 mobs makes one drop every 33,3333... wich gives us a dropchance of 3%

That has pobably to do with the fact that I killed Easy monsters ^^
When I feel like it I can provide more data :D

Still nothing acceptable dropped... would have liked a magical Item at least :(

EDIT: You owe me 700k gold for repairs :D

Nice that you took the time to try something similar out. I would like to see the screens of each drop though, and the quest you took? Also i hope you didn't kill a different creature in-between your Gaint Crystal Golem killing spree. :]

Further, your tests seem incomplete. What is this zero = Hammer? So you killed zero creatures to get that Hammer? eD

And what you've got to do to get a more accurate answer is to start counting the percentages from first drop to last drop. For example if my first drop happened at 35 kills and my last drop happened at 591 kills i would subtract 35 - 591 = 556. Then from there try getting your percentage. Hope that helps.

I killed 8 Monsters and then dropped the first Item, thats Item 0 :D after that the dropchance should be "reset". That was my approach? Idk :D

so: 488:15 = 32,533... that's 3,0737704918032786885245901639345% Drop rate ? xD

Quest was "Eliminate 546 Giant Crystal Golems" was too lazy to take screenshots everytime

This is my second test. Note that after i did the 617 quest i killed about 200 creatures of different types before i did this quest of 616. I shouldn't have done it but i'll be more stricter with myself in the future. aD And this time i got a magical item. :D

I spoke years ago to Kitsunie, Nekoko, Bidinger, Compy, Enio & other 'knowing-types' about this very topic. They each mostly claimed that the drop system seemed to be thus: there's a preset amount of drops, & that your personal drop rate will entirely depend on two things: how many other same-server players are currently online (or not), & also, how many of them (or few) that are grinding & can actually drop atm. My past personal experience greatly tends to confirm their claims, but truly idk (& no one could, the code for RO is entirely proprietary). Regardless, if true, this means the more online, & the fewer that are grinding, the higher your personal drop rate will be ... & the fewer online, & the more of them that are grinding, the lower it will be. Additionally, years ago, when NGD introduced Xim-Shop drop boost scrolls, the code was seemingly altered & the drop rate became much lower than it had previously been. Some have even claimed it now requires a drop gem + x3 drop boost scroll used simultaneously to even match the same rate it had been before these changes. Again, idk 4 certain, as I no longer often grind (all my Haven toons are 60; & I truly LOATHE grinding), but that said, I have no real cause to really doubt these assertions, as I do periodically grind 2 toons on RA, & it still seems to be the case. As well, it sadly also appears to be true that the higher the toon level, the less frequent the drops, & the lower level (& less useful/valuable) those drops will be....(even so, I once dropped a legendary item, & really nice too, just by passing thru goat-oc healing & buffing the grinders there with my 60 conj on my way to pn ... & just my 'luck' ... it was a rapier ... doh!).

Interesting insight. There are ways to find pretty much all of this out in approximations. But it takes time and strict discipline to decipher their secrets. :D

Thank you for sharing Lebeau i really appreciate that insight. :]
