View Full Version : Hi, I am a new player, few questions

Already a level 15 warlock and having fun at it.
I have been using two websites to make sure that I don't miss any quests.

Mainly I would use the second one because I can understand the town, and the NPC and I would just find them.
I noticed that at level 15 there are no quests? Is that true or no one has recorded a quest at 15?
My second question is do monsters do some type of damage?
My armors have a 6 type resistance, the first three three look like melee/ranged? and the last 3 look like fire,cold,electric.
So, I am just getting the armors taht have the most armor and keeping them on but the "6 type resistance" is bothering me because I don't understand it. Is it for PVP purposes? What can i refer to it other then "6 type resistance"
Also, any other tips would be cool. I am playing on Ignis.

Different monsters probably do different types of damage, but it doesn't tell us what type they do, so I have no idea what does what.
It's most predictable for PvP, because you know (roughly) who's most of a threat to you and what type of damage they do..

The three physical damages are Slashing (the scythe), Piercing (the arrow) and Blunt (the paw), I guess you got the Fire/Lightning/Ice thing ;). Different weapons/enemies deal different damage type (sometimes many of them). You can somehow guess what kind of damage some enemies do (I expect Aquantises to deal Piercing and maybe a bit of Slashing) but it's mostly useful against other players (most warriors use hammers which are Blunt, archers mostly make Piercing damage and warlocks mostly elementals, Lightning & Fire).
These are modifiers of the base resistance of your armor piece. Normal means 0% percent modification, Good +15%, Very Good +30%, Bad -15%, Very Bad -30%. Or something like that (I'm not sure about the values). Every piece of armor supposedly has fair modifiers (their sum is 0).

hmm okay, I would imagine Aquantises to only deal water type damage :) but that's me

on the Character screen, everything is set to 0, that is for everyone right?
and what does armor do exactly? help evade? reduce damage from monsters?

They display 0 for now 'cos they're yet to be implemented in the character window. However they are working in-game so you still get whatever stats & bonuses your equipment may have to offer.
Armor provides damage resistance (dmg value - resistance value, as far as I'm aware) after calculating how much resistance the armor provides to the particular kind of damage. See magnet's post on how resistance is relative to how good the armor is. Basically if an armor has say 98+2 and is good against piercing that means it has an overall resistance of 115 against piercing attack.
Evade and block are your chance at avoiding getting hit. I have no idea how they are calculated.

Okay, now weapons
I have a staff that has Damage: (+6)
17-24
And another that is Damage: (+1)
25-33
which one is better?
both electrical damage, so that rules out the idea of one being better on certain mobs then another :0

At a glance it looks like the second staff is better. But there are other factors you have to take into account such as weapon speed, range and material. Usually, a fast weapon deals less dmg than slow ones and vice versa. Range is more important in PvP rather than PvE (against MOBs). I don't know about staves, but for armor and arrows fine steel are the best so I assume it is the same with staves. Check its bonus hit chance too, if available. Although for mages who rely more on spells I reckon staff hit chance isn't that important.
As a rough guide, equipments also have "ranks" such as enhanced, superior, great and master (in ascending order). Sometimes you may find a Master staff that's a lot better than a higher lvl common staff. Same goes with other equipment.

- Physical attack evade chance is based on dexterity.
- Magical attack evade chance is based on intelligence.
Only knights can 'block' attacks after they have landed, with their shield and spells :)

I think there is a knigth spell that allows others to block, because once (yesterday) in a war I blocked a few times with my conjurer.
