View Full Version : Switching Realms

I heard a comment today where a player wished for a scroll that allowed you to change realms (no, it wasn't me this time). I've also heard it said that the same attitude exists in all realms. There have been people who have left the game either temporarily or permanently. As well, there have been people who have switched realms. Others have said they would switch but have invested too much into the character(s) they already have. So, here it is. If it were possible, and I don't know if it is or not, would you switch realms given the opportunity? And, would you be willing to pay for the service? I'm not trying to make a point here, nor am I trying to justify anyone's opinion. It's just a poll born of curiosity. It would be interesting as well to hear from people as to what realm you represent and where you would go if you could switch. By switching I mean go to a different realm and take your characters with you.

How could you take your characters with you when not only are the chars realm specific but so are the rings/ammys. You mean like start a fresh char with the lvl of whatever your old chars were and just use a trainer to lvl their skills and buy new equipment? Cause i wouldn't much like seeing Dark Elves playing in Syrtis with jids eyes and whatnot.

I switched realm after BETA but then i only had a low lvl char and never visited the wz. Now i would never switch because i feel at home in Alsius and it would feel strange fighting against former allies. I've noticed the realm switch talk and for some reason it often appears when a fight or 2 goes bad and that is'nt a good reason for changing realm. I can understand those who wanna change realm because of friends playing in another realm.

Hmm, I wouldn't switch, but if I were going to, I'd LIKE to be able to pay to transfer my characters.

Yes, inevitably I think quest reward items would have to be lost and you'd be left with a character of -
Comparable race (no idea how you'd figure this)
Same name
Same level
Same amount of experience
Same non-realm-specific items & money.
No quests, possibly no RP.

You forgot the most important thing of all in a poll:
Other!
I'm one of the few people who has fought beside their realm in the War Zone, and then switch, leaving everything behind. I spent roughly a month working on my characters, which although it isn't much, is still time I can never get back. If this scroll were available, just think how many people would shift the very second it came out. One little fight and people could switch realms and it would make the game highly unstable. Syrtis could have the least number of people one week, and then Ignis the next. It would be a BAD, BAD idea to implement this into the game.
In addition it might cause the game to crash, multi-realm clan, and many other things. I would say a big, fat & ugly NONONONO to this idea

lol Remember it was just curiosity. I don't think it's even possible to do it let alone it being considered. I myself have tried both of the other realms. Syrtis was like a daycare and I didn't take to Ignis that much for other reasons. As much as I get pissed off sometimes, I don't think I'd go either. Especially after visiting both for comparison.

That's why the scrolls must cost 20.000 Xim and be definitive. You use it once, you can't use it again.

I think switching realm is a bad idea. But it would be nice if german players had the possibility to switch servers (or simple copy char on other server).

Now you have to spend a lot of time if you want to switch realms what is a good thing. People will switch realms faster when they just can switch and keep their chars. Now people will think a second time before doing this.

Not so sure this is a good idea. Imagine there are 650 users online on Ra and 535 on the german server. The german server goes down and we have 1185 users on Ra. :clapclap: I'm not sure, but I'm thinking there's the possiblity of a tiny bit of lag there.

My misunderstanding. Sorry about that. And I agree with you, the loss of the existing German players we do have would be terrible.

No, I don't mean switching all time around. Maybe only one time every month or so. Simple give the possibility to someone who want to switch to another server. Maybe sometime in the future there are more international servers too, so the possibility for this would be nice for Ra players too.
Maybe a small restriction that the target server must have lvl 50 players on all realms, so this cannot be abused to spam with lvl 50 characters if the server is some days old.

Please Listen (or read :sifflote:)!
To all Alsirians:
It's a hard time for Alsius now... most of its players (and mostly the ones that I know) aren't playing so much because of College and School... in Argentina (where most of the players live) November and the first days of December are full of exams...
As I said, lots of players are off because of this (this happened some months ago, during the other semester exams). So hang on please, be strong and wait for things get better. Don't leave...
I've seen lots of people leave this last days... It's just a pity...
Regards
(sorry for my english)

Why does everyone apologize for their english? Your english is better than my spanish. I don't speak spanish. And I don't make apologies for it. Anyone who can communicate in a foreign language at all should be commended. Raisin pie for you.

Apologies are made to show that we care about being easily understood and that when we make mistakes its not intentional to piss off people as some people do.

No one holds the authority to be pissed off cause someone makes a mistake. Chances are if someone says they can't understand you, it's because they don't want to put forth the effort to try. Not trying to give you a hard time or anything, what you did was actually very curtious so you stll get the raisin pie. :clapclap:
