I don't feel that the Techies, either on the site, or at the very beginning of the game, really give us enough info on the realms. I mean, that little movie at the beginning was fine, but did it tell us there were attack sheep in Alsius? Did it explain to us the clerical fachism of Ignis, or the "tree friendliness" of Syrtis? Well, that might just be a myth still.;)

I thought that many of us may have joined a realm by percived "goodness", or "coolness". How terrible then, if one were to be dissapointed, on for lack of information!

But such deception is relativly shortlived. Life is hard enough for a new player, some having no concept of the interface, much less where they are, what in the gods' names is going on; to top it all, they dont know for whom and why they do what they clumsily do!

HOWEVER! I would like to praise the Techie writers for making every Realm very "human" in that, each one has personality, there is no black and white, good and evil, just plain Blue is good and Red is bad. Rather, each side is entirely "human", fallable, quirky, and often driven emotions rather than reason. So cheers for not making the the "good guys" (whoever they may be) dull and sanctimonious and the "bad guys" laughably sinister and unbelievable.

BACK to the point, I would request a great compilation of all the histories, legends, backstories, and stuffings that fill the gaps between the obvious.

With your most humbly requested aid, let the disambiguation begin!

I don't want to give too much information away which is learnt in quests, but...
~A concise history of Regnum~
This isn't going to be too detailed, in the very beginning, the only "true" and "civilised" realm was Syrtis. Neither Alsius nor Ignis existed - the Nordos lived on their own in the icy mountains to the north. There were some...err...misunderstandings of some sort and the elves attacked the dwarves, so they went north. The Uthgars joined the dwarves who found the northern icy mountains, a short war erupted between the Nordos and dwarven "empire" (if it could be called as such in these early times) but eventually they realised their intentions were similar and became allies. Meanwhile, in Syrtis, the Igneos from the desert attacked. They were dealt with quickly and soon the realm of Syrtis was filled with their books on Necromancy. Some elves practiced this art of dark magic, then a prophet called Lemorel foresaw their "fall to the dark side" and the elves wanted the magic out of their lands. So yeah, the Necromancers were exiled and travelled for many months, exchanging the meat of their fallen to survive famine. They performed an obscure ritual which turned their skin dark blue and opened their eyes to a vision of a new home. Sounds a bit biblical...oh well, that's the point I suppose. Anyway, after many months they found the desert of Ignis, the "promised land"(here we go again with the bibical stuff...). So they swore revenge against Syrtis, Alsius wanted to expand their territory and yeah...war was declared. Lots more information is revealed in quests, most notably the Runestones and Elemental Runes quest series. It gets a bit confusing there though, with the explosion in the lake of ancients and the Soul Monger.
Btw, sorry for the long post and lack of paragraphing...

There's something with the winged wolf in Alsius who saved Emperor Gash and killed a whole elven army.

Alright, I suppose a little quest information won't hurt...
-Emperor Whatshisname, first emporer of Alsius, erected a statue in snowy rocks to celebrate the dwarf-human Alliance.
-Some emporer in Alsius ran off with the "Imperial Sceptre"...or "Royal Sceptre"...can't remember what it was called. He plunged his family into dishonour.
-Elven King Ataleon died in battle.
-Alsirians looking for "magical stones" intercept a shipment of elven supplies heading to Dohsim and introduce the disease the infected chicken posseses. However, the attackers are defeated.
-Darlud accused of cowardly conduct when he hid at Fort Menirah when the Ignean troops were slaughtered.
-The elemental runestones: not giving away too much info, but 4 brothers are masters of a certain element...they die, in elemental runestones you have to raise them from the dead and get the runestone.

Ok, I think that's more than "a bit" of information...but oh well.

There's something with the winged wolf in Alsius who saved Emperor Gash and killed a whole elven army.

Actually the Winged Wolf started when alsirians charged down a mountain after an army of elves and the survivors described the attack as if it looked like a large winged wolf was flying down the mountain with bearing teeth and snarling and whatnot. I dont recall anything having to do with Gash or anything, and i'm pretty sure the Winged Wolf is more of a "fighting spirit" than an actual creature. Atleast this is how I remember it. Dont ask how I know such things.

Yea, now I remember. The elves fleeed for the Alsius warriors and the survivors told of a giant winged wolf with emperor Gash as the head. Later it bacame a legend.

Wow, there's some people who actually read the texts when they do quests! Thanks for the heads up :clapclap:

And in Ignis we're no fascist, Syrtis is fascist! Under a so-called democracy, the senate has been overrun by the Dark Side long ago and heretics are leading the power for the War on Sultar's Terror against Ignis, however the true reason is they need OIL of which Ignis is very rich!

I said clerical fachism, which is quite a ways different from your standard run of the mill fachism.

Pretty much, if you serve the state, you're serving God. Because God set up the state, therefore, those who don't serve the state don't serve God, and vice versa.

Heretics, which are enemies of God, then become enemies of state. It is in many ways simmilar to a Theocracy (nation under God) but, as the "gods" seem to have trouble communicating with mortals as effectivly as other mortals, it ends up being a sort of Ecclisiarchy (nation under the Church of God). SO, when the Head of the Church and State are the same (say the King of England is head of the Anglican Church) You dont only control the lives of your citizens, you control their souls. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Imagine then, when, Instead of the King being head of state and Church, he is infact THE Church, which is to say, the jerk diefied himself (Roman emperors and those emperors of the east liked to do that)

-Darlud accused of cowardly conduct when he hid at Fort Menirah when the Ignean troops were slaughtered.

now thats funny. Darlud resides in the very first newbie village and produces useless rings and weapons.

But you get all that info from alsius quests?
thats more than we learn in ignis about ignis
