first off, thank any one who reads is with the intention of helping me out.

1) picking a character, what is a good character for a beginner to choose?
ie, if you don't utilizes skills to the best you can still play, and be an asset to a group.

2) which of the 3 sides to pick from? ie, what does it really mean in terms of how does it affect your character?

3) death... do you loose xp? do you loose gear? is there a corpse left behind that you have to retrieve.. what happens if you don't/can't?

4) Powers: it appears that they are completely flexible... ie, you can put every point you get early on into the first skills, and then just reset them latter on when you learn some thing new that you want to focus on.
is this the case in this game?

5) where can I find stats about equipment and such (pages and pages of raw data to read while bored at work :) )
--
I have read the beginners guides and I feel I know the interface now how to play the game, but nothing about how to play the game (not the best phrasing, but you know what I mean)
above were the questions I still have.

I have played MMORPG games online before (the 4th coming, EQ)

1. Depends on what class you want to play. Look at this link (http://www.regnumzg.com.ar/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=20&Itemid=33) to find out more.

2. Join Alsius or die! I mean... Certain races from certain realms have different starting attributes and certain races are restricted to certain classes only. That's all there is. Refer the link above for more.

3. Death by mobs or suicide (i.e drowning) will give you necrostacy (temporarily reduced stats). Death by getting PKed does not have any penalties. For all types of death, you get sent back to your altar if you ressurect. Conjurers may revive dead players on the battlefield if you wait for them instead of ressurecting.

4. Yes.

5. I wish I knew too. But this game isn't very item based, you'll get to know most items related to your class fairly easily.

If you start a newbie char, and do the instructions and quests tell you at that stage, then you'll get a feeling for how to play the game fairly fast, so don't fret (:

1 in syrtis u get wood elfs, half elfs, and altarians (human ppl like ignis and alsius but they are some desert ppl dark emo elfs and goats/cows and some midjets) u get 8characters per users but all in 1 realm so pick syrtis :metal: and some races are beter than others at some stuf some depending on your class chek available races.
2 pick syrtis ull like it everybody luvs syrtis :angel2: we got ppl from all realms swithing over and we got a nice landscape, nice beaches, forests and open fields unlike some place thats still in the ice age and a empty dry desert.
3 u only get necro that goes away with a few kills
4 yea u can asing powers to any skill u like and reset then if u change your mind to do this say /reste_powers in game chat
5 to check equipment stast just leave mouse cousor over the item, u can only pick on class and subclass for ever

and yea the begginer's help guide doesnt realy give much info and
p.s what other mmorpgs have you played?

GIGO305 I played a game called " The 4th coming" for many years, "Diablo II" for a few months, and "EQ" for a very short period.

Katiechan, thanx for the encouragement, but I have spent many of the wee hours doing some slow leveling of low lv chars, and doubt /be disappointed if Regnum was any different.

amade, been to the link b4, ty any ways for link. thanx for answering Q's

--
have more questions, but I'll just dive into the game for a while and play.

where can I find specific edict rules for a realm? I know the 'don't be offensive' that is just common courtesy /sense but some realm's have others that one might not necessarily think of by oneself.

how long can you have an account be idle (ie, not logging into the game) and remain active? /or is an account permanent?

Accounts are permanent.

And I'm not exactly sure what you mean by edict rules.

There ain't much roleplaying elements in this game so it's pretty much the same in each realm. You join, you grind up, you help out your mates in the warzone. You're free to do pretty much anything the game mechanic allows you to do, which mostly is to kill the other bugger(s).

I think the accounts are permanent. There doesn't seem to be any statements from NGD which says otherwise.

Actually, I think the population between Ignis and Alsius is more or less even now. Syrtis is still the one with the larger population although lately I see less zerging going on.

Aah that explains a lot, now I know why I always get an army after me there. :) To me it seems that Syrtis is capable of sending an army from beach save too.

Yes, we love fighting at beach save.

Seriously, what's up with attacking beach save all the time now?

just be nice i guess is the obvious stuff you seem to be a pretty nice person so you should do well
i guess some things that people find annoying is to not try to lead in the wz and dont be cocky but you dont sound like that so have fun dude
