+100% block doesn't mean you block everything. It says that that 100 blockchange becomes 200, that's all.

Pizdzius

It raises it for 100% like it was said before me, it doesn't give you A 100% block chance.

Block canīt be 100%... It would be chaotic O.O.

I think It wont go up 85% or 90%.

Red, you really are a pt xD

Look into your chracter window and notice the difference with and without your blocking spells and passives. Dky and Piz already pointed out what to look for ;)

Now I see why Arkenion calls you a PT

+100% block chance.
Double block chance.
In other words, if for example your block chance was 1, then it would become 2. Just using those numbers to keep it simple.

misaccc
02-01-2008, 08:38 AM
There is no change...its not doubling blocing points...it nicely says:
30% chance of blocking a hit(passive)+30%chance of blocing a hit(precise block)+50% chance of blocing a hit=110%chance of blocing a hit...
Chance of blocing a hit and blocking points are not the same...do u guys understand now?pts....

Blocking points? What are you talking about?

Look in your charater window. it says:
Evasion: ##
Block Chance: ###

Its in numbers not percentage...

Yes, let's say your base block chance with shield is 100(not gonna happen, but oh well).

+30% Block chance from Blocking, passive.
Block chance: 130
+30% block chance from Precise Block.
Block Chance: 169
+50% Block Chance from Protecter.
Block Chance: 254

Does it really work like that? I thought they always take it from the base figure. In which the total block chance would be 100+30+30+50=210

Pizdzius

yeah it takes from base and seriously Red I thought you finished some school, you had math there, right? I can't add numbers for my life, but I know how to read english lol

Yes, I did. Using the passive spell I was able to see how much it raised my block chance. The amount raised equals the percentage given by the spell. Precise Block however, does not alter the Hit Chance value in the character window, although Heglin reports that he blocks a lot more with it so I assume the spell is working properly although you can't see the actual figures.

Precise block is a bit random but worth all points you can put in it. I often end up with 8/10 hits blocked (can get 20 blocks in a row too). If i don't have any mage around who can give me mana i use PB+caution when charging (with mage help AoO+PB). Sorry i strayed a bit out of topic

Well red i think it depends on ur lvl also because if you see a knight impossible not every skill or attack hits... and its true i get more blocks then you with the same skills but low lvl so i think somethings wrong check ur armor also and ur shield block chance too

"Precise Block" provides 30% net block.
"Protector" provides 50% net block.
"Block" provides 30% more block points. (This can make your regular blocks more often by 5-10%)

So, maximum block chance would be 85-90% and it's related to luck most of the times. So there's never a chance of 100% blocking nor a 100% block chance bonus.

Regards.

Ok, I've just been enlightened by Mosh who was able to quote if from the devs from a loooooong time ago.

The way it works is that your Block Chance (BC) is, as we know, not a percentage. It goes against the enemy's hit chance (HC) through some sort of calculation to determine whether an attack is a block or a hit. Because HC varies between the max and min and the fact that everyone has different HC there really isn't a block percentage for it. Evade uses a similar formula I'm told.

Now, as for precise block and protecter... Most of us in this thread was wrong. It IS a percentage of how many attacks you will block. So Precise Block will block 3 out of 10 hits for you. And lvl5 protector should block 5 out of 10. However, they don't stack. So you're not actually getting 80% block chance by using those 2 spells! BC, PB and Protector works in layers instead. If the first layer failed to block, the attack goes to the second layer and if that fails to block as well it'll go through the third (if available) before making a hit on you char.

The passive spell however, works as I stated before. It raises your BC by the stated percentage, not your actual block percentage.

i saw what the pasive does today....

So, in order for an attack to hit it has to go through precise block (70%) and Protector(50%). the probability of that is the direct multiplication: 0.7*0.5, which gives 0.35 (35%). That means that those two together should give 65% chance of blocking a hit.

You forget that there's still another layer, which is based on your block chance. So the chance of blocking a hit is a bit higher, but undeterminable. However, I reckon you have at least determined the minimum chance of blocking a hit.

cuuunt amade XD

same with bless, if it gave 100% hit chance meaning I would always hit I would walk around with a conjurer all the time. ouch

Now THIS is a different case.

Bless(5)
Hit Chance +100%

It simply doubles your hit chance.

Yep, the little details count. For example, the block passive says +xx%. So the BC gets an increase by said percentage. Protector states xx%, which is directly translated as block percentage.
