I'm definitely getting frustrated with my current level (40+) weapon (s). All slow or medium speed staves and no fast one.
I was suggested that drop items MIGHT be better than what I could buy. Unfortunately, I tried roaming around killing mobs only to get level 35's. With all the risk of getting killed by other realms and mobs, could someone make a guide for drop items? If there is, I seem not to find one. Please do tell.
Yes, at my level, I still don't know a lot of things. Please bear with me.

What realm are you playing in? There are some different mobs in different realms.

Based on his avatar I would guess Syrtis.
Depending on the challenge rating, a mob can drop anything around your lvl or lower. For example, every lvl 40 mob could drop a lvl 35 - 45 weapon, etc... There are no set drops.

there's a quest at level 39 which gives you a level 39 fast staff. That's the staff I'm using atm.
I had a spare fast staff until yesterday which I gave to someone from my clan

OH, I skipped most of Irehok's quests.
Then I guess I'd have to talk to him.
Thanks AwD.

Really? I would recommend to all new mages not to skip quests as they give good staffs at your lvl for free. And money becomes a necessity for repairing your gear after lvl 40.
Not to mention the mobs that you have to kill will be normal or hard, so you get xp for them too, instead of the unchallenging which give no xp.
But in no way am i calling pheonix jackson a new mage, she is in my clan and has killed me many a time in the arena :)
I skipped many quests on my other characters...at lower lvls I found grinding much faster.

Nope, that's not true. Questing gets you much faster lvled. MUCH faster.
Even when you're completely bored of it and you're lvl 12?

Bored of questing and not bored of grinding? You got issues dude :p
I've lost count of how many characters I've made up to lvl 15 then quit them...so I only do the new quests or the killing quests, because travelling a lot is boring and doing something you've done so many times before is boring too :p

whether its boring is a personal opinion, it is better to lvl and do the quests for multiple reasons a few that i listed up earlier

Ok, ok. Calm down people. I posted this for drop items info. I was on the process of taking records when it got messed up by the latest update. I guess I have to start all over again (sigh) or quit it and just let it be.
As for quests, some of them require levels. That is the reason why I skipped it for about 5 levels. It helps me to get to atleast 5 quests thereafter. Furthermore, I do like grinding, and I only did Irehok's quests when I get bored of grinding. That was just my way.
I suppose redoing quests would be a bore from time to time (even first timers complain about some quests where you have to go to a place and return and that's that). But ofcourse, an easy +250 xp wouldn't hurt to get to next level (just an example). Then again, it is our game so we play it the way we do.
Thanks for the posts.
