I'm having difficulties leveling my hunter currently at lvl 23, I find that I can only kill 3-4 mobs before being either completely out of health or completely out of mana. I was just curious what other hunters use for skill setups to get the most out of grinding. Also just about every level I purchase a long and short bow, but I can't really decide which to use. I'll be getting to lvl 25 soon and I know that means lvl 4 skills and i'll have either tear or break apart. Which skill is better and overall which bow discipline is better for a hunter? Currently I've been switching from shield piercing/ensnaring combos or with shortbow using just dualshot.

Okay - since some updates ago MOBs attack you and not your pet. So, there's not much you can do there and resting is just a necessary evil. However, I can offer you some guidelines:
1. Your leveling so do it near a save and don't worry about dying. Just keep fighting until you die and then go back for more. The necro you get is only 2% and you'll keep it burned off. This way you can grind almost non-stop.
2. Until your high-enough in level to even worry about the short bow vs. long bow argument, stick with long bow (more initial damage) medium speed. This will get you your biggest bang for the buck initially
3. Don't buy new weapons every time you level up, do it about every 3 or so.
4. Try to find a warrior buddy to level with or a conjurer. If warrior, use a knight they can take the damage and the conj...well can keep you healed.
Good luck

Thanks for all the info, I'll stick to the longbows then. And yes i'm from Syrtis. Also How do I get more than one of the Deadly Sight Rings?
*Edit* Yeah I just noticed the lvl error for lvl 4 skills, I blame sleep deprivation.
It's a quest from Poicelle in Fisgael.

Yeah I just finished it up. I had to have help for the big golden beatle, it was rated "very hard" and was nigh impossible to kill solo. Thanks X Warlock X for the help
I hated that quest.
Go from Fisgael to WZ then kill 25 not so common snakes then go back to fisgael...

I can handle orange mobs, I can't kill reds alone.
I can handle purples alone both on my conj and my warlock :)
But you could just do some hit and run...

I find the damage I do with my hunter on reds or above is so negligble that if I did try hit and runs, they'd just regen their health by the time I regened my mana.
Don't use your mana then. Get a range 25 slow bow if possible, otherwise range 30, and maybe use Dirty Fighting in Tricks as well.

Oh joy I have something to look forward to then :/ I'm beginning to wonder if tracking is worth all this. I don't see other classes having nearly the problem questing as I do.

stay as far away from the mob as possible seeing as how they dont get attacked anymore i usally start off with an ensnaring arrow straight away before it starts charging at you this should get you a fair bit of time to move back and should do quiet alot of dmg too. as stated before use the walk back method and time your attacks so your firing when your moving backwards

Thanks I'll try that
Knights have a worse time on some harder quests...I remember trying to kill Very Hard mobs on my knight and doing 40 dmg to them with a slow spear...At least you have a pet to help you.

Using mann's method and a good pet you should be able to defeat up to and probably more than 10 normal/challenging mobs before resting your to regain mana or health.
At your lvl with a good pet the ony spell I usually used was shield pierce. Andything else was just incase of trouble.
At your level if wasps are normal for you, you may be surprsed by how many you can defeat at a time for some pretty good experiance.
Yes, but your efficiency fighting much higher lvl mobs decreases a lot.
I've seen lvl 4 shield pierce do 33 dmg on mobs Very Hard to a certain hunter.
If you are leveling, don't waste your time on anything above normal +CHG. Kill everything very easy, easy, and normal = you'll level a ton faster.

agree about normal mobs makes leveling faster but like the hard ones, also very easy ones are waste of time&mana i think. in general (for all classes) the best fast-leveling mobs are challenging&normal or normal&easy mobs due to class/setup imo.
Only barbs and warlocks find Very Easy ones are a waste of time. I kill all mobs Very Easy - Normal +1 on my knight and marksman.
IMO for defensive classes Normal +0 is best, for offensive Normal +1.
