Let them reach 30+ then delete the char. ;D
And why /can't/ they ban people that use inappropriate names?

I agree. Although I like one character and even belongs to our clan. I find it hard to speak his name.

Today I saw a Syrtis character named "The Fucker". I do not think names like this should be allowed.
Since NGD can't ban everyone who makes a name like this, who thinks a censor should be implemented to stop it?
I do not like censorship myself but I am sure there are alot of children who play this game.
I agree, but the problem is that one of my characters wouldn't be allowed to play albeit his unoffensive name. The char name is "yoshitsune", and all the in-built censurers I've come across do not allow any variation of the "$hit" word! But it is an English translation of the name of someone that lived long time ago, namely 源 義経. :o

Although I'm against censorship of any kind. There are a number of younger children that play this game. They probably already know the words you mentioned above but that doesn't mean they need to see it everytime they log in. As a community we have a moral obligation to point out such trash, and point those that are misguided in the right path. Let your spanish noobie friend know that the name is unacceptable and should be replaced. He's only lvl 5 so it's not a big hassle. And it's better than being banned.

Lol its funny because that makes Gigo like 15.
I dont agree with banning ppl. Banning ppl for what? That game doesnt have filter for name when creating character? its not player's fault, but NGD.
I suggest that NGD, if they want to censure names, on log in screen, implement option to change name or he cant login with little message why, or to seek them in game and sort out problem one by one on spot. U must cooperate with game developers and if u dont want to, ban is next and random name change or not.

Censorship?:o

Atleast a warning on creating character names would be good. If this issue should be addressed from the start, atleast it could minimise such a problem.

I am wary of censorship also.
But unfortunalely it is sometimes neccessary, because there is always someone who insists on pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable..
Nobody ask to bann peoples, just if NGD can make them solution to change name like the guy with "Pussy lover". How about some respect for girls?

if they implement a censorship system people will find ways to get around it and you'll see tha fuccker instead.
Besides you'll really be surprised about how many swear words kids know. That is often a problem with ignorant parents because they will try everything to make the child so innocent and pure not knowing these words... but that's a debate on it's own...
The only offensive names are names like "Sara linde isawhiner" or something like that

I'm against censorship, but if such a name is detected at the creation of a character a red text should appear to warn the user.

I agree that character names should be censored, but only for people ages 10 and up. The only reason those 13 year old kids playing the game know those type of words is because they've played RO or other games and heard them from us older players in the chat windows! I totally support censorship but only up to a point! Censoring the game would drive people away and it's bad enough that not that many people play it as it is now! Yet we need some kind of control over what people say in the game also! So if we don't censor what is said, yet we can't stand listening to it either, what should be done about it? The only way to not have to listen to the foul language is to either 1.) vote for total censorship of language and character names, OR 2.) just don't play the game! If you can think of a better way than these two choices, let me know because there's no other way that I know of as of yet!
I not only don't like seeing swear words being used in the Chat windows or as character names, but I also don't like people saying I should quit playing the game because I'm too old and no one that plays these games wants to play with "Old People"!:rale: This statement made to Aulon today really hurt my feelings and was totally uncalled for! They said other things too that I won't repeat that were even more hurtful to me so I left the game 5 hours early due to the fact I could no longer see the screen through the tears running down my face! :crying1: This kind of behavior is just rude and uncalled for by some people I thought were very kind and cool people! I guess I was wrong!:ohill: If this kind of behavior keeps up, I may just stop playing altogether! Although, I hope it won't come to that!

Unfortunately you'll find pricks anywhere you go, and it seems at times that every a-hole/pervert in the universe has an internet connection. There's an Ignore funtion in the game that I use quite frequently. I'd recommend you do the same.
P.S I've actually contemplated creating an old folks clan in Syrtis.

actually they learn them in school, in schoolyards from the older aged students who then teaches the new youngsters those words and the cycle continues.

I think any kind of censorship would only make other people complain about their freedom...
if it was possible, I would force everyone to read at least one fantasy book, to think about the fact that char represents themselves (because it's the matter of RPG) and so does its name....nobody can want to have a stupid name like the mentioned ones in real life, so how can they let others call them "The Fucker" etc in the game?
I spend like an hour finding a good name each time I want to create a new char in any RPG game and when I see somebody named "sldfkhasg" I simply don't waste my time speaking, helping, partying with him...
(sorry for my english, I'm trying to do my best :beerchug: )

I've literally spend days online finding the perfect name for a character. Investigating the native language of said race etc. In the end I found it to not be worth my time. So I stick with easier names, like mine.

Why bother with censorship in character names, when the media screws up kids much more and theres nothing you can do about that?
I played with 13-year olds on this game who said more bad words in an hour than I say in a week xD That's how messed up they already are ^^
I'd say: leave it uncensored and ignore people with bad names.
Put in censorship and they will search for way to have a crappy name anyway (e.g. f|_|ck or using '@' in stead of 'a').
Ignoring those with lousy names or telling them they need to change their name and then ignoring them, will have a better effect.
The silent treatment this would be called. It only affects the people with bad manners.

Yup I have been in a party ( very briefly ) with some kids who seemed to think that every second word had to be a swearword of some sort. I have also been told that I am too old to play this game. As for the names... censorship won't work because as has been pointed out there is always a way round it.
I like playing Regnum, refuse to be put off by kids with nothing between their ears but fluff. That is not all of them though, there are youngsters out there who just quietly get on with playing and enjoying the battles. :horsey: .
We have several in our clan who make us 'oldies' very proud to know them.
If you leave then the idiots win.

How about this being the compromise of the pro and anti censorship camps:
Make the censorship client side so that the output is parsed on your machine so it doesn't annoy anyone else.
Now that will work for anyone that just doesn't want to look at traditionally censored words. Now locking the option from children is another matter, considering if one is hellbent on enabling censored words will just open another account.
