is hellbound a legend :) ?
My issue is that even the "legends" are fallable. I never liked the idea of calling people legends. It's a little too elitist for me. Respect should be given to everyone who you think deserves it.

Lol? What is this? Are you sure you aren't just trying to kiss up to great players Kate?
I agree with Gal, in my mind theres no real "legends" thats just stupid.
I don't even have to ask my clan master Twix to know that even in his right mind he would say he is not a legend.
If a player has been around for awhile then I guess he is just a great player and not much more.

I claim the so called "legends" show no respect to newer players...
You should show respect to everyone, not only to "legends". And you should not show more respect to "legends" than to a player who played only a week.
Everybody deserves the same resppect, we are all equal.
I guess you meant me in the first line with this thread.
I don't know where I showed no respect. But when I see "legends" talking trash I should have the right to negate this, and to improve it.
Everybody should have the right to negate other people's opinion. Just because you play the game more long you are not right in everything you say. I assume there are many people that are playing the game since beta and are having less knowledge than people who are playing the game since some month only. Of course it it the other way around too.
I show everyone my respect, but how respectful is this?
Cumeri, if you can make yr posts less long-winded and boring i might read them...
No arguments from him...as I said, he should learn how to handle other people's opinion in a serious discussion.
It is like the bug with enemy surveillance. There you wanted to hear the opinion about some "legends" too. Do you know what? I listen to the opinions from "legends", as well as to opinions from newbies. Every opinion has the same value for me. And I react on a crappy opinion (just my opinion that it is crappy) from a legend like I would react on the same opinion of newbies. That is called to be not biased.
You yourself said in another thread that nobody listens to you...but you play so long and had so many characters. It was like whining: "Oh, let me be one of the "legends" too, but you don't let me be because I have no lvl 50 character yet."
Edit: People who are in need to underline their arguments with the "legend" status they have are rather poor I think.

Everyone deserves respect, but what i find particulary annoying is those lvl 14 noobs who run into the wz and start yelling orders as if they even know wtf is going on. I think whats being said is that low lvl people being mean to higher lvl people i think. i still think that everyone should be given respect regardless of how long they've being around(but i just can't help to respect those legends more, i mean their awesome)
ps edge your a legend too XD

Things being said by people who have played this game for a very long time shouldn't be considered as the ultimate truth. But I do think that people should listen carefully to them, since they've got a lot of experience.
When I read a post of someone I put all things I know of that person together; the way (s)he is on the forums, the way (s)he is in-game, the play-style, the level and experience(not xP). But what I do hate is low level players that are telling experienced players they're telling non-sense without good arguments. On the other hand, I also hate people who say that everything they say is more valuable than what they say, because they've played the game for a longer time.
Everything is relative...

I'm n00b here...been playing for about a week or two and from my experience on previous games is that you can't always listen to experienced player but you should at least consider what they say...I've played games such as this one where things are every changing...experienced players...while they know the game do not know the recent changes...take everything with a grain of salt and if it is not true don't bad mouth the person because things could have changed but by all means let them know kindly so they know for future reference
with that said...experienced players shouldn't get all bent out of shape because a newer person corrected them...this is a two way straight...your way is not the only way...this game is similar to chess...strategy varies from player to player and everyone likes to play differently...doesn't mean your way is best or my way is best...just means we different styles of play and each has a disadvantage

Gah... don't.bring.Thanus... :mf_hide:. He HAS a law: someone will die in the next few seconds and the lot of you will spend the next half hour running after me while my lovers (he has a fan club filled with girls) kill you one by one as you grow tired and leave the mob to walk alone...
Respect is due to every single human being, albeit being humanly common to disregard such absolute truth.
As for the "in-game" legends issue, I have a funny example: whenever I ask some stuff to some well known players they usually say "I think it's..." leaving me to believe that the only guy that understands something about this game is... me :cuac: . That is not only a thought dipped in fallacious preconceptions but also rends me on a state of ubber death while those named before endure and kill until I get revived to find myself dead again shortly after (but anyway thank you Z... ah, it was Valour who saved my ass this time).

ill only post once due to ppl probaly hating me for this:
some times legends are to full of them selvs for example just because you played so long doesnt mean you are a god, you can still be a PT (like nahue) and shouldnt be treated that much extra just for seniority at some point your judgement is as equal as others. such as val screaming at everyone, we all hate that but some times its good advice.
on the other hand they should have more respect since they should at that point of playing so long know better and adjust to the changes better, im also aginst every single noob that trys to stand up to you im new here and ppl that just started think they will pass me(refering to my knight) i try to tell them tips for PvP and this lvl 25 guy cuersed me offf and ran to warzone. im glad some ignis guys killed him i claped.

This is where legends will lead you to...
When we grew up and went to school
There were certain teachers who would
Hurt the children in any way they could
"OOF!"
By pouring their derision
Upon anything we did
And exposing every weakness
However carefully hidden by the kids
But in the town, it was well known
When they got home at night, their fat and
Psychopathic wives would thrash them
Within inches of their lives.
We don't need no education
We dont need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.
We don't need no education
We dont need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.
"Wrong, Do it again!"
"If you don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding. How can you
have any pudding if you don't eat yer meat?"
"You! Yes, you behind the bikesheds, stand still laddy!"
Follow the legends at your own risk!

Man I was just listening to George Carlin talk about this subject. He was talking about how he thought it was fucked up (pardon my language) that people try to tell you who your heros are supposed to be. Who you deem to be a legend might not be the same as who I deem a legend to be. And respect is universal, I couldn't give a damn how long you've played this game. It's what you do with the time you do play that counts.

well, legends is a bit of a strong word dont cha think. But there are certainly players out there who's advice I will listen to more than some other peoples.
I am getting tired of all of these 4-6 month players who think they know shit about the game because they managed to make a LV50 and play around in war for a few months, then coming here and talking trash to people.
I'm not sure how many of these people actually are around. I've only ever had maybe 1 or 2 player like this. And even then I thought they were worthwhile to listen to, because they would know more than you or me about getting a character to level 50. And who care how long it takes them, 4-6 months is great, just because you cant stick to a character long enough to get them a level 50, doesn't mean you should critisise the people that can.

Everyone is not equal. Contribution is what matters. This is a wargame, not some carebear cooking RPG.
Take your hippy crap somewhere else, I'll respect the players who play good and actually make a difference, that's it.
I will give a due amount of respect to every person in the game, but only until the first time they act stupid.
This isn't being funny, this is just being assholes. I can't believe the community would stoop so low as to make jokes over things that I have invested alot of time into and that I consider important. I have no choice but to put you both on my ignore list from now on for these "humorous" personal attacks that were uncalled for.
I never said that I was a legend, I was refering to others. I said I was a good player, nothing more.
And I only felt the need to point those things out (http://www.regnumonline.com.ar/forum/showpost.php?p=337496&postcount=51) because everyone is always telling me how worthless I am (http://www.regnumonline.com.ar/forum/showpost.php?p=344736&postcount=18).
A disgrace to Syrtis...
But I do my part for the community for damned sure--I contribute. I contribute alot.
And alot of the things I say do have truth, like matters of balance, because at the end of the day, it's my JOB.
I do it for a living, you probably don't, so grow up.
Cheers.
Hahahaha you *really* love yourself don't you? you contribute a lot... that's a friggin joke right there, mrs "im the only developer in the world" hahahah:superpusso:
Look how much you really matter, seriously, look: :wiggle14: <-- this much! Get over yourself. You're nothing more, you're something less. Call them legends or anything else, but the game is a different when you are lvl50.
One of the things why i stopped checking the dev section here are the lowlevels who flame down every thread because they think their opinion is the ultimate truth.
Level DOES matter, so does experience.
Of course being lvl50 doesnt make you wise or protect you from failing, but at least you know your business and only fight people who are equally strong or lower.
I know this sounds bigheaded but i wondered if it was a good idea to introduce a forum that only people with a lvl50 char can access.

Sorry Miraculix, I think you misread Night Twix's post. He is absolutely correct in saying that its a whole different ballgame when you get to level 50. The game developers balanced the classes with level 50 in mind.
However, being level 50 should not be a ticket to being above all others. Even level 50 players can make mistakes, make bad calls and may generally not know game problems and bugs that only the lower levels can find. LIkewise, lower leveled players may not know how their demands are actually affecting the game balance in higher levels specially for level 50's.

I was agreeing with the post up until I read the part about 50s-only forum.
If the game was designed with balance in mind only for lvl50 characters, then they made a huge design mistake. 90% of the players are *not* lvl50. 90% of your playtime is *not* being lvl50.
It is a fact, yes, that lvl50's have a whole other experience of the game, that only the fact that you got there means that you have devoted enough time in the game to know your class really well, but exclusive lvl50's section? That's too much.
Just my thoughts on the matter anyway.

Also I see a lot of people who are level 50 who treat lower levels with less respect because they are level 50 in a kinda "you don't have level 50 you shouldn't argue" kinda way, and that's wrong too imo. Angel, equality is a ongoing fight in the world, its no different here and i agree everybody has a right to an opinion, but maybe sometimes people get flamed for not saying it in the right way.....what i mean is opinions can get misconstrued...crossed ideas etc. Some lvl 50's may talk down, but to be fair if theyve been here longer than me, then usually what they are trying to tell you is usually correct (see how i use usually), i respect my elders..even here.

Just a note, you can't give bad karma to one person more than one time every ... every lot of time. I know because I tried (not on you I think though hehe). And between those times you have to "spread some karma around" to other persons; but since you're limited on reputation points, you yourself need karma to do so. And then, sometimes you can give reputation but it's neutral ("grey karma") because you didn't have enough points...
Well, point is: they can't be one or two person, if they're giving you negative karma over such a short period of time, they're all different person.
Just clarifying the system.

"you don't have level 50 you shouldn't argue" kinda way, and that's wrong too imo. Everyone is entitled to an opinion even though you like that opinion or not. That's not what I base my relationship on people to.
This is a day to remember, I agree with you AwD. This a very poor argument, in fact it looks to me like an "ending discussion card". Being lvl 50, I suppose, give you a good experience of your class on fighting mobs. Some just get to lvl 50 by training inner realm. Which for me would really increase my lvling speed (reset for making hight dmg fast, and dmg passive).
When I fighting with lvl 50's I try to learn from them, cause they usually come with interesting tactics. And when I'm fighting with lower level I try to help them, or give them adivces if I can. And this is how you get respect, by your actions. If I'm not a respected player it's because of my lame behaviour.

Everybody deserves the same resppect, we are all equal.
No we're not.
I can't sing like Mariah Carey, or play basketball like Kobe Bryant, or fight like Jet Li, etc, etc, etc.
People are not equals. It does sound nice on paper though.

We are all human beeings, and you should respect everyone in the same way. Of course there are people who are very skilled in a certain thing and their opinion about the issue is more experience based and for this the probabilty that the opinion is right is more high. But this does not mean that other opinions are not important or that opinions from "legends" are always true.
Everybody deserves respect. That means you should listen to others and you should be nice to them, no matter where they come from or how skilled they are.
We are all equal in the point that we are all worth the same, for this our opinions are worth the same, too. Nobody should have the right to use offending language just because he/she is a legend. And it does not matter if you don't show respect to a legend or to a new player. Fore this a claim to show legends some respect just because of their legend status is not valid because it is based on the point, that not everybody deserves the same respect and that opinions of people are not equally worth.

Even rapists and murderers deserve respect. When you don't show them respect you are not better than they are. I know you come from a country in which there is punishment to death. But in my opion this is not the right way to handle with criminals.
But this is realy another matter. We talked about the players of regnum, which all deserve the same kind of respect. Not only legends do, nor legends deserve more respect.

Not on my planet cuz.

I reject such neo-socialistic drivel out of hand. It is utterly morally corrupt thinking, with no basis in logic at all.

I think i can speak for almost all Americans in saying we don't really care about your opinion.

This thread is about respect towards so called legends. Don't turn the thread into something else.
Just one thing:
I think i can speak for almost all Americans in saying we don't really care about your opinion.
it is not just my opinion, it is the opinion from most civilisated countries, amnesty international and other organisations. Why do you think they don't allow punishment to death? Killing a human is murder, no matter if it is a punishment or what the victim did before.
Respect is earned, not bestowed.
Depends on how you define respect. A basic respect does not need to be earned, like beeing nice to each other and listen to others opinions. And this basic respect is what I am talking about. I don't talk about respect you have towards someone because she/he did great things. That's another matter.
Respect is earned, not bestowed.
I agree with the above comment. I also think that even if a person hasn't earned your respect, it doesn't mean you are rude to that person. Maybe the correct term is being civil.

Yes, I agree. Beeing civil describes it very good. For me beeing civil means to have respect towards someone because she/he is a human beeing.
Seems like we had a little problem with language barrier.

You should treat everyone the same as you want to be treated. It has no use in fighting terrorists or dictators if you're behaving just like them.

Mariah Carey can sing well, but she's an unstable nutcase. I don't have much respect for her.
Kobe Bryant is probably a good basketball player (I care little for pro sports), but half the players on my state's NBA team have been busted for drugs, sex with minors, rape and other offenses. I worked near the courthouse, and it was a running joke whenever the media vans showed up. "Gee, I wonder which player it was this time." (Edit: I later looked up Kobe Bryant in wikipedia. Turns out he WAS accused of rape in 2003, and later settled out of court, made a public apology, then got his endorsements back from Coca-Cola and Nike). In interviews half of them have grammar as bad as GIGO and sounds like idiots. I have little respect for someone just because they are a good basketball player. I have the same opinion of most rap "stars."
I have far more respect for people I know in real life that have quality traits, like generosity, patience, humility and self sacrifice.
Maybe some better examples of who we should respect are people like Ghandi, Oskar Schindler, Linus Torvalds (and every other open source developer), Dalai Lama or Carl Sagan.
As far as this applies to a little, pretend world such as Regnum, I would give far more respect to a level 5 noobie who helps a level 1 noobie with a smile, than some arrogant asshole who thinks having a lot of RP is somehow important.

So well said. COmpletely agree. I would add Truman, LIncoln, MLK JR, Mozart, and many others. I would also add: courage, compassion, curiosity and passion. Do something useful and noble that matters over the long run, even if only impacting the lives of a few people in a meaningful way, then you can talk about respect.

Wow I completely agree with Octopus for once. I've read and watched some of the Dalai Lama's stuff, what's he's done, what he stands for. He's my biggest hero...next to my dad of course. Linus Torvalds not so much. Sure he's brought the linux kernel to the world, but he's really a neutral party in the scheme of things when it comes to open source/proprietary software. As much as Richard Stallman is an ass sometimes, he really has the best interests of all of us in mind.
