User made avatars

This is sort of an english version of this thread (http://www.regnumonline.com.ar/forum/showthread.php?t=22707)

The idea is simple: make your own regnum related avatars and post them here. Anything you want: A particular view of your pet, some rock you just saw and tought it was nice, an npc, anything, as long as it remains creative :). Hopefully there´ll be some neat stuff here. Feedback can be sent to the spanish thread too, why not :D

Maybe one day we could get to use them under our nicknames in the forum.

The avatar´s size on the forums is 80x80 acording to photoshop.

All ideas are welcome but implementation is ultimately up to NGD, so we really can´t know if this will be of any good, but we could very well have some fum :P

The real challenge here is to make a concept, something simple that comunicates an idea trough an image wich someone can identify with.

The idea would be to get general stuff, something less personal, more related to a concept. I´ll put some I made quickly for the other thread...

The one of the wolf had a pretty tough composition, took me a while to figure it out :P

Oh, there are some really nice statues in relam´s structures like bridges and walls, they might do really well for this sort of thing... will have to check it out...

That's a really HARD thing to implement, since it would need a complete rewrite of the avatar's selection page. There's a workaround, though: adding sets of avatars with all the possible combos. I've seen in some forums the possibility to choose the "category" from a dropdown list and then select your avatar. That wouldn't be so hard to implement, but it would certainly require a lot of time. :P

Ok, I had some time and corrected some color and contrast stuff, got them to 80x80 and added a pic of Ignis initiation save:

Zarkit now looks sharper ^^

EDIT: the beetle needs editing, note how it doesen´t fit well with the others, kind of stands out somehow, probably due to the high contrast and the sharpen effect.

Try adding contrast and maybe flipping it horizonatlly. Play arround with it, the composition is good (wouldn´t expect any less from you :P), but colors are normally the most troublesome.

Also try the blur efect: it´s essentially just duplicating the background layer, disort it somehow, in this case, with gauss blur, and change the layer fusion to lighten. Simple but cool :D

And gigo, just take the pic and post a thumbnail (but not that one you posted in the holas thread, it really lacks detail) so that someone else can edit it.

Just be careful with the lights and the background, also the pose of the zarkit and the angle (http://www.mediacollege.com/video/camera/angles/) you take the pic from. With the digital era we all just click and there´s a photo, and if we don´t like it we take another one, thus there´s little or no thinking left about what we show in an image. Time to start doing some thinking, me included :superpusso:

I'm sorry, but I hate adding blur effects and I thought that mist/fog looks nice. Not every picture should look like that :p so, I guess, I'll stop at it. xD

sniff I thought that pink fluffy delicate look would perfectly reflect piz. xD

We all have our personal style, sort of speak. I never would have tought on most of the awesome stuff Maryan has been uploading simply cause we all look at things differently. I just showed you my point of view on your avy, in case you haven´t considered looking at it like that :p

Actually it´s more than fine as it is. Avys barely require a good composition (check. A+). I´m just a maniac with light and contrast :imstupid:

I love the idea. I just created an account and it was driving me crazy that I have a custom avatar that I couldn't use. This one is 100x100.
