My first Barbarian, I need help

hey all,accura gt here :) . dis iz my first barbarian char..hes lvl 18 atm..have like loads of questions...first off i wantd te talk about the weapons that i shud use to lvl now...i mean i have been using slashing(sowards) and it does fairly good damage but then i tried blunt and it does better damage on a continous bases but slower -_-* ...really slow....and also....what shud i be upgrading at this point ..(was wondering if i cud get a few setup tips :) ) thanx

You should experiment to see what suits u more, piercing has a little more range, blunt has spells with effects, and slashing has more powerful attack spells

Tactics have useful spells, Warcies is needed IMO, 2handed mastery is a range of different style of attacks, not neccisary, but useful from time 2 time

I lvled a barb with caution + spear normal hits + OWTH. Its a nice way to lvl IMO. Add in TFB and your flying. ;)

Balestra + ripost is a good combo.
Otherwise just do the SC monkey to level up :)

balestra dosent always work on mobs.

The best way is probably to be a SC junkie, though my method is using a medium speed weapon with 20% speed boost, that way I kill the enemy with normal hits and they only hit me once... ofc thats only my personaly method :biggrin:

so your saying that i shud use spears at dis lvl :biggrin: ???

I guess Edge is right, using SC can lvl u up fast @ ur lvl.. and using spears is up 2 u.. Just remember, spears dont have SC ;)

Ripost at level 4 and 5 is not bad at all and you will need less to rest if you use properly balestra, feint and trip. But I did all the 45+ with blunt 19 :D

What you need ain't SC it's leveling parties.

On my lvl 26 barb I got lvl 3 str and str/dex passive with a very slow spear. Lvled with Ripost + Normal hit, Balestra + Ripost when on low hp. When I can afford it I'll start buffing with Caution.

I reccomend using spears starting out, once you hit the mid 20's you can move along to another weapon (2h hammers become available, and SC becomes available) Then I picked up spears again in the 30's and used them to the 40's
Balestra techniques with spears are good, though like I said you should not grow to rely on them, as they can usually fail. (The problem is simply because there is a bug in the system at the moment that if you use a knockdown or immobilize spell on a mob that is challenging for you, it sometimes never or hardly works)

Honnestly I don't recommand Southcross for leveling. It takes out lots of mana at level 4 or 5. I did the 47 to 50 levels only with normal hits from hammer and 2h mastery skills (Thrist for blood and beast attack). The good way to level is in group. Alone you are weak in groups you just make a lot of XP from the group bonus. With a good group you can level even with fatigue.

Try all weapon types for lvling, as this will help you decide which you like best for war...

Like Dracus said, it costs too much mana, its fine to use if you want it, but you'll be resting anyway.

Best way to lvl is to use the least amount of mana as possible.

Yes with caution and frenzy to cope with the dmg you will take.
And choose wisely your armor, I made the mistake to swap my beast armor for a new one, I won't make that mistake again.

Metal Beast at 32, ride that baby to Avenger at lvl 42 and so on.

SC = South Cross, an attack at position 9 in the slashing tree.

I'll leave my thoughts about this spell out ;)
