How do I change my avatar, signature?

hey guyz im not sure wat to do, whats my profile picture for? i put a 100x100 picture there but its not showing with my posts and the avatar thing how do i put in my own picture instead of picking one from the bottom?

i think it's only for the Public Profile page.

your posts use another "generic" avatar.
