Hi,
I've published the "personal trainer", it is a handy tool(?) to see info about skills and powers.
It is barely translated to english, enough at least for a start (I hope) if anyone find it useful and want to help with the translation, just raise your hand (it will take me some time anyway to work on it).
Ok, enough, click here (http://www.regnumzg.com.ar/index.php?option=com_rzgskills&Itemid=28) to check it and hope you find it useful.
Cheers
PD: It is in beta, please report any error you may (will) find, thanks.

Beautiful! This would have saved me much time back in the day when trying to figure out what skills I wanted.
I played around with it a bit in Firefox 1.5.0.9 and saw one, maybe two, errors.
1) When I max out the power level for the individual skill, I get the message which says "(i)You must level up this discipline to increase this power." However, it never goes away if I raise another skill.
2) I was able to increase the power level for disabled skills.

I'm glad you like it; I'll fix the info message, and I'll see what can I do with the disabled skills.
Thanks for feedback, take care.
PS: Have you tried Firefox 2.0? That's the one I'm using from some time now, it works like a charm so far.
------------
Edit.
I've fixed the message problem; as for the disabled thing, it needs a few touches so I'll address it when I have to update the info to reflect the forthcoming changes.

ngd has not updated yet, they are doing tests in the experimental server (public tests, go and check for yourself there are nice surprises), so I will wait until those changes get stabilized and moved into the oficial server; that was what I meant.
Get some rest ;)

Alright, I updated my Firefox to 2.0.0.1 and all the inconsistencies are a thing of the past. Looking good!
As a side note ... I like this new spell checker in Firefox 2.0.0.1 :D

TanZhiHan, thanks for the help; as a side note (and to save you a lot of work) values are the same both in english and spanish, so you only need to pass the power name, description and the different bonuses. In the next upgrade of the trainer I will include the translations (when I have enough of them :) )
tandcemerson, glad to hear that; I really like firefox.
Take care and thanks again.

Hi,
I've updated the trainer, so it has the powers' descriptions in english now. The distribution points were updated as well, up to lvl 30 in mages and lvl34 in warriors. Beyond that, they're completely made up :tonguey:. But I've tried to follow a pattern to guess the missing points (it is highly inaccurete though).
As always, feedback is most welcome, and if you want to contribute; take note on the discipline and power points the next time you go to your trainer to do a reset_powers.
Cheers.

I've just published an updated version of the trainer (http://www.regnumzg.com.ar/index.php?option=com_rzgtrainer&Itemid=44&lang=en), now it shares the same info as the Skills, also it should be a bit faster.
I've rewritten almost all the code, so there could be some new problems, please contact me if you spot them.
I did a first round of improvements aimed to agilize the trainer use -there is still room for further improvements though- it should be a bit faster; I'll love to hear if you see some differences.
Info is now shared with the Skills module, which means that now they will get outdated at the same time ;), accoridng to ngd's changelog there hasn't be changes in the powers, but if you find differences, please tell me.
Lastly, for IE6 users, the trainer looks horrible -but it works-, let me give you a piece of advice: use a modern browser :), anyway I'll try to make it better some time in the future.
That's all, enjoy.

Those aren't bugs, they're just misunderstand features :tonguey:
I guess I know what's going on; try to "level up" slowly, if not, skills are messed up. I'll try to fix them when I get back home.
Thanks ;)

Nah, thank you for the advice.
You should not "know" how to use it properly, it should just work.
It is a fault on my side, thanks again ;)

Edit:
Should be fixed now.

I have, how you say, a man-crush on this utility. :)
Seriously, back when I played Asheron's Call there was a similar "character simulator" out there that would let you fiddle around with skills and such, just to see what combination you wanted to try in-game. This thing is fantastic! :)
Well done!!! :)

I guess I fixed it, can you give it a try?
I found two bugs, but I'm unable to test it myself in-game right now (seems that I didn't broke anything new though )
Ciao.

Hi, I'm copying this from the RZG site (sorry if this is cross posting or something like that )

Some news on the trainer.
I've implemented a new feature that some of you were asking for; you can now "unlearn" powers. The way it works is as follows.
There is a new control, which reads "simulation" or "experimentation" depending on the selection, the mode the trainer behaves is slightly different.
Simulation mode is the one we are used to, and tries to mimic the in-game trainer. Experimentation mode shows two more little buttons in each power, a minus button and an arrow button.
The minus button is used to decrease the power level, and the arrow button (pointing downwards or "here") is used to decreased the discipline level.
This "unlearn" mode is still not complete, there is no way to raise the discipline mode without using the ol' level up button. I'll be working on that, but I need to learn a few tricks to make it properly.
In the meantime, you can report problems or give feedback.
Hope you like it.

Finally! Now I don't have to reset the trainer everytime I want to make a small change :D
The arrow down button is absolutely useful. Personally, I don't think it matters if we can't raise the discipline lvl without using the lvl up button. It's already more or less perfect now.
Great job!

Thanks for you effort. this is very usefull.
Question: Would it be possible to show previews of all the spell from the higher levels? Preferrably with tooltip.
This would make it possible to see where the brach is going. If you're raising a branch to get a higher level spell you know which branch to beef up (I now keep an extra tab open with the skills-oracle and have to switch between the two...)

Good question, I wish I had a good answer .
My first idea was to have what you're asking for, but given that it will take some more time to make it properly I thought releasing what you see now and have time to figure out how to do the rest.
Ideally (for me, suggestions are most welcome) when in "experimentation" mode, all the skills should be previewable (I invented a word here, didn't I?) and grayed out but with the "here" arrow, so you can peek the power (its name as you said as tooltip) and just click the arrow and let the discipline fill by itself up to that point.
Having said that, I'll wait a bit to see if anybody has any other suggestions; and maybe in a week or so start working on that (don't hold your breath though).
Take care.
