View Full Version : I don't understand weapons stats

Maybe someone can explain to me how it works. Take this example:

Weapon stats At char. attributes

Rapier of silver (superior)
Damage (+6)
45-57 attack 91-103
Speed: Fast
Dur. 74
Hit chance +1 hit chance +1

Broadsword of fine steel (superior)
Damage (+20)
34-45 attack 94-105
Speed: Medium
Dur. 126
Hit chance +12 hit chance +12

You see, if you look at the weapon stats you should choose the Rapier beacause of the 45-57 (broadsword is lower: 34-45). But (a big but) if you look at the attack (under character attributes) you see that the Broadsword has got higher attack: 94-105 and higher hit chance (Rapier 91-103 and lower hit chance).
So, why is that so strange and complicated?? How can I choose the right weapon? Which is best?
I really would appreciate if some1 could explain that to me. Thanks

The top weapon is better, it hits faster and deals more damage. :bounce5425:

Actually that dont look right!
The base damage is higher on the broadsword and strength contribution should be higher as well.
(45+20 > 57+6)

Make sure you are careful looking at the character sheet, switching weapon dont always update the strength bonus correctly.
It wont effect the actual damage but need remove and equip the weapon an extra time to make sure its updated.
Do that and the broadsword will show even more damage.

Okey, so the damage of the broadsword is higher (45+20 = 65) than the rapier (57+6 = 63) but why do they just not put:
Broadword: 54-65
Rapier: 51-63

instead of 34-45 (+12), etc. Why between brackets? Sure must be some kind of difference? or not?

I have been gone for awhile..but i think its because of the quality of the item giving it its bonus (in this case superior construction)

you can get none, or negative/positive bonuses as well depending on weapon quality or level, (common, enhanced, master etc)

The speed affects the damage formula. It is not stated by NGD, and many players still do not believe it, but it is true as far as I tested. Remember also that some mobs have better armors against some specific damage.

Also remember that character datasheet does not work right. You need to Equip a weapon, look at the stats, the unequip. Then Equip the other weapon to see the real change, and even doing that it sometimes it gets bugged.

On a side note I WOULD NOT USE fast weapons right now. They seem to be bugged or something. Instead of a fast sequence of shots you do two shots together, then a long (long) wait, then another shot, then a long wait, then maybe one or two, then a long wait, and so on.

While we're talking about weapon effectiveness, I've got a question. How do speeds compare between fast, medium and slow? Anybody got numbers, like is fast 2 times the speed of slow, or 1.5 times as fast, etc?

the dmg-dmg bit causes a random dmg between that number, then +12 is then added regardless of the number, then dmg from str is added, basicaly most of the time just go for whatever hits harder, If they ave differant atk speeds then I think its 25%(?) speed between med-slow etc so for it to be worth useing the slower wep it must have 25% more dmg than the med one

i might be wrong, but it appears each weapon can do 2 different types of damage. piercing and slashing. also something to think about.

I think (I'm actually pretty sure), the 2 sets of damage amounts you see on these weapons is 2 different types of damage. Probably slashing and piercing.

So for:

45-57 attack 91-103 with a (+6) bonus, it would mean that it deals:

45+91+6 = 142 up to 57+103+6 = 166 damage per hit, hitting for that damage at fast speed. The damage would be composed of 45-57(+6) piercing and 91-103(+6) slashing damage. (The types of damage might be wrong, you need to check the little icons next to the numbers)

Here's an explanation of the different damage types in this game:

Correct me if i'm completely mistaken here :p

Damage after 'attack' he means the damage displayed in the character sheet. (read further down in the post)
The reason he get only +40 dmg from strength for both weapons is because its not updated correctly.

Oh, in that case, ignore my previous post, the numbers are wrong :p I thought it was a second damage type.
