Questions from a new player

I am new to the game (actually haven't even started yet it's still downloading and at 70% lol) and id like to know some things about the mage i love magic using classes in most MMOs snd im wondering how good is the mage in this game, is it any good in pvp and what subclass would be best.

also any tips that would be useful to know once im in game would be appreciated

If you start a mage put all your initial points (the 5) to intelligence.
At level 10 you get to choose your subclass, the choices are a warlock or a conjurer.
Warlocks have powerful attacks and "crowd control" skills - they can knock down multiple enemies with one spell. They do not survive from multiple attacks but in a group they are fun, and play a crucial part in the teamwork required to win.
Conjurers are a bit different and their main focus is on healing and protecting allies and their importance can be easily seen in combat - a smaller group with a good conjurer can win against a bigger group without a conju. Conjurers can be played as offensive class too and is commonly referred as a warjurer - setup with a summon and attack spells but a healer role in war is more preferred and important.
