...how 5 people got owned in under 3 minutes. This is a story about a recent experiance at PB, and how a brave pt and a foolish veteran, overcame odds to hold PB. This will be detailed in a turn by turn description, there is also conclusion at the end, for the impatient
The percipitating event:
Reports of greens coming to Ignis over PB isn't uncommon. Like any good soldier, I decided to investigate. I traveled to PB from Shaana, observing my surroundings and watching the road for troop movement. By the time I arrived to the Rocks near PB, I noticed a single pt, Josue. I moved further south of PB, just out of view, and followed the pt.
He barely makes it to PB, and starts to run backward. He stops near the rocks and sits down. This got my interst, and I moved closer to see what was at PB. It was a Syrtis conju and an archer. I know why the pt sat down, it was guaranteed death for him.
ROUND 1 Duration ~1 minute
Action!: Not wanting the guilt of leaving a pt to be raped by Syrtis, I decided to sneak up to PB and give the greens a good scare.
I get within range to stun Syrtis with a good loud yell. The conju was not effected, but it scared the archer very well. At that same moment a marksman appeared to the rear of two greens.
Thought: Damn! Another one? This is going to be hard, 2 archers and a conju vs a barb and a pt?
Action!: Taking advantage of the confusion, and the fact that the conju was facing forward, I assaulted the marksman first (Croma Ayar). The pt starts to attack the archer (Claramir).
Thought: Worst case: pt dies and leaves me with the last two, or the marksmen gets healed, leaving me to become target practice for the archers.
Action!: Marksman goes down with mild resistance. I immediately turn around, and assualt the archer before my buffs run out. My attack goes well, since the archer and the conju were still focused on the pt. Once the archer was dead, the conju (Chaski) was alone and helpless. Ignis Wins!
Thought: To my suprise, the pt was still alive, and dealt a reasonable amount of damage to the archer. While that was a good thing, selecting the right targets in the correct order also keeped the fight in our favor.
ROUND 2 Duration ~30 seconds
Action!: After heavy damages, the pt and I, decided to rest immediately. He hid at the corner of the bridge, and I sat down in the middle of PB. I didn't even heal to 80% before I noticed a barbarian (Reserus tintus) approach from the Ignis side of PB
Thought: A suprise attack from a barbarian at this time would be devastating. We were not fully healed, or had full mana yet. Plus, my back was turned to him.
Action!: I had just enough mana buff again, and to gamble on the same move that won Round 1, yell at the furball! The stun was successful! It bought me enough time to fully buff, and for the pt to arrive. Reserus attempted to kill the pt, but we turned him into a furcoat first.
Thought: From distraction, to meat-shield, this pt was becoming very useful.
ROUND 3 Duration ~1 minute
Action!: We returned to our resting areas, and the next attack from a hunter (Rodazak) arrived. The pt was still healing from the last fight, and my buffs were not ready to be used again.
Thought: Without enough time to rest, and against a full equiped hunter, it was his advantage. After all, this is what hunters do all day long.
Action!: Standard practice against any hunter is to always kill the pet first. With the pet out of the way, it's just a matter of surviving hits and chasing down the hunter. But it wasn't going well, I wasn't fully buffed and he was just always out of my reach. I landed one last hit, and started to run!
Thought: I'm going to die!!! This sucks, by the time I started to run, I only had 20% life left, and I was still in his range!
Action!: Charge! The pt comes to my rescue! He had only recovered 40% of his life, but took advantage of the hunter chasing me. He drives his spear into the hunter, stopping his chase. Then in grandstyle, kicks the hunter down, and stabs him again with his spear. The hunter dies...Ignis runs to safer locations.
Thought: With 5% life left, I thank the pt for saving me. Things could have been different if the pt lacked the courage and the quick thinking to keep himself, and his realm-mate, alive.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion
My main objective in writing this article, was to perserve a victory, and to thank Josue, for his skill and bravery.
Gracias Josue! Usted serás un gran bárbaro
*I hope it translates to "You'll make a great barbarian"
Not every n00b you meet in the warzone is going to be like this, but we should all take a chance to see what they can offer. It also reflects on the veteran and shows their capablitilies for teamwork, tactics, and survival.
No guts, no glory. DEATH OR GLORY!
