Hi, I have just downloaded the game, but I don't know what class I want to play as. I am looking for a class that is not necessarily the best, but is easy to get the hang of, and can still be good. I have done some looking, but I can only find threads about people arguing about what class they think is "best".
I am leaning towards Marksman, but I keep finding threads about how much it sucks because of a new patch nerfing it's evasion. How much does this effect it's usefulness?
Thanks to everyone who answers.

I would say Marksman.
It's very easy to play if your army is dominating.

Conjurers have to be the easiest class to get to a high level, and pvp is pretty fun too with them, regardless of if you're being support or attacker, but you will almost always be a primary target.
Warlocks are also easy to level up. In pvp they are generally easy to use as long as you aren't the main target of the enemy.
Knights are tough to get to high level because they are all defense + litte offense, but are all around good for pvp with once you get the higher levels.
Barbs are more or less average in pvp and pve. No defense, but lots of offense, meaning quick kills but also quick deaths.
Hunters, in large scale pvp their main role can be sketchy, but in small scale they are invaluable. Grinding is decent from what I've experienced.
Marksmen are well fit for pvp and pve, but although they do good damage they suffer from little mana with high mana-cost spells, so you must ration your mana while grinding/fighting.
So, they all require the same amounts of skill imo to use any of them correctly, so choose based on what sounds fun to you.

Thanks, that's a big help. I think I will do a Marksman. One more questions, does the race you choose effect your class at all?

Depending on your race, you get different initial stats, but these really don't differ alot.

As a marksman, I would prioritize constitution, dexterity, and intelligence. There has been a lot of debate as to which of the 3 is more important but it is not of relevance right now, but choose a race that has good starting stats on these.
To answer your original question, I would say that the endgame complexity of the gameplay for each class is as follows, from most complex to least complex:
Conjurer
Warlock
Hunter
Knight
Barbarian
Marksman
But that is just my humble opinion on the matter :)
