Well, my friend started this game up the other day, and I wanted to play with him, even though I'm not usually a fan of free MMOs.

But my question was: How's the roleplaying in this game? Is it a nice, little community, or is everyone involved? Or is it non-existant?

hmm, i'd have to say roleplaying in this game is nonexistant (aside from level ups and getting drops [if you're lucky enough to drop something]). If you're looking for good roleplay content, move along, this is not a game for you. If on the other hand you're looking just for sheer ownage, then welcome ;)

Well, I'm not a pure roleplayer, its just something I find fun that adds a little more to the game. I'll still play it, however :)

There used to be a few english speaking role-playing clans back when I started, but they have all disappeared (mind you, this was 2 years ago).

TBH, there really isn't any role-playing specifically due to the lack of environmental immersion and under-developed PVE. This game mainly focuses on RvR and PVP. If either of those interest you, then you will probably enjoy this game.

As in every game roleplaying is a matter of will and enjoyment. I know players that roleplay by not adjusting their powers and sticking to their character conception (those are hard roleplayers, it's somewhat dangerous on this game, but they have fun doing so and that's what games are all about), I know other players that write journals on their chars exploring their gaming experiences on an IC perspective, and I know others that randomly go IC... or I hope so for their mental health sake! :naughty:

Just press enter, type "IC:" (or something similar so that the others know you went "berserk") and spam curses on your enemies (heh... for this you don't have to type "IC" xD )!

Yes, pvp/rvr is what I play MMOs for, and is what I plan on doing when I play the game ;)

This game is all about killing each other. There's the grinding till you reach max lvl, and after that the game is almost only 24/7 RvR war.

I say almost only because there's the occasional dragon or other epic boss slaying to get the drops. But that's basically it. And it's awesome :p

ITs not for every1, but its a one of a kind mmo so you should try it for yourself. leveling gets a little slow but u can get premium items that get you 50%-100%-200% more xp, and its not very expensive. :)

Dont worry. If you want to roleplay there is still a wa to do it.
