About the new Dutch server

At www.regnumonline.nl I read (in English!!) that there's a new server launched, Tyr, special for Dutch people. Do I need to register at UnitedGames.nl to have it in my server list? Because I can't see it now.

[edit] I registered a second account to see if I would get the key for free xymerin, which I didn't. Good, so that works :)

When logging in Regnum with my newly created account I see Tyr in the world list where Horus used to be. Can't I get access to both servers with one account? Also, the game seems a bit slow when logging on in the initiation area.

edit2: Very important, in game nothing is translated into Dutch yet. I think this is a very important issue, because it's advertised in Dutch, so maybe a lot of new players won't speak English.

Update: the high gameplay ping causing the game to be slow only exists in the dock, when you're off it, the ping goes back to green.

EDIT: Alot of people are pissed off about the Xim.

Also, the game is stuff full of bugs, realm imbalance, class / power imbalance, glitches and all kinds of problems. But more servers are being opened??? What about trying to fill the servers you have already? Horus for example.

Tyr is now also shown in the world list of my main account. Weirdly enough my secondary, Dutch account shows now only Ra and Amun.

I don't care if its the server owner or whatever that is completely unfair to everyone who plays Horus. How could this ever have been considered a good idea? Did you not think we would be pissed off if you gave some brand new server free Xim? Great way to kick the English community in the nuts once again. Maybe once try planning something, there is this old saying "If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail" maybe you should consider it when thinking of the next great idea you come up with.

Horus would have needed xymerin too when it was started maybe, but it didn't get it then. It's shouldn't be that now the same mistake will be made, just because it was made back then, that would just be weird.

They probably don't want to spread the current community over all the servers, but instead use the Dutch server to get access to a new market. UnitedGames is already a popular game portal, providing a lot of games, which means there already are a lot of potential Regnum Online players. They aren't here, but somewhere else, where NGD couldn't have reached without help.

they could simply publicize horus on the UnitedGames portal... there was no need to open a new server to access that market

Congrats at the new translations of the website. Although it isn't complete yet the translations are clear and nice to read. I did notice that in the -yet untranslated- Quick Start chapter of the game guide the weapons used for the realms are still the old ones and not the ones showed in the realm selection menu.

I think this new server is totally unnecessary and uncalled for, Horus hasn't even reached enough population and with this you're basically taking away from Horus and it will grow even slower now. Not to mention that Ra is in decline according to some reports, even further splitting of the community is a bad move. Now we have 5 servers for RO, 2 of them are half empty (Niflheim and Horus), Ra is unplayable due to the enormous lags, dunno for Muspell and now this... You could've just arranged some bonus for dutch people that register over United and attract them in that way.

Tyr is part of an exclusive deal that we signed with United games for the Netherlands and Belgium. It required a new server as they want a full dutch speaking community and they seem to think that they can fill a whole server.
(the game is being translated by them to dutch also)
The free xim was their idea/request.... maybe its something we can do again for other servers that we hope to open in the future.

As I told you before, we are signing new MAJOR agreements with other players in the industry... Non exclusive deals that should have a big impact for Horus and what we hope, many more international/english servers.
This is just the first one that got activated.

Come on guys, please, stop complaining about commercial decisions that you don't know anything about. This is good news for us all, as more players means bigger plans for Regnum.

Besides, Horus has become a bit of a joke with all the melodramatics (maybe ngd should sell the rights to make a new soap opera, thus getting funds and improving the game further)

it wasn't from the start, it was later when ngd realised horus isn't doing like they've predicted. refresh your memory. we got fatigue for welcome gift. oh and we *never* got free xim. while tyr's got nice xp bonuses in addition with free xim.

Yes I know near as fuck all about what NGD is up to, but more servers, more time spent on maintanance, less on development, I hope that new staff is a part of the big idea. Yes its not easy to find people who are experiance MMO developers.

But you will need them, I fear for the community though, whats kept me in game so long are the people, many of which have gone recently which has been a great blow to me their clans and their realms. The game itself no offence isnt amazing it wouldent have kept me and many others for so long without the community, As you open more same-country servers which tbh will be a looong way off yet Id guess, I dunno I get the fealing the community will be like to little butter spread over to much bread.

Hm if your partner thinks they can fill up a server, sure let them go ahead. As long as it doesn't suck resources and time from NGD's focus to develop the game, then I'm fine with it, let the Benelux noobs fight each other in their own little world xD

Yes, something they don't do on Horus! Even though 70% of the Dutch speak English, not all of them want to do so always. Furthermore I also expect the server to attract some Runescape kiddies, the game UnitedGames has become big with, the Dutch version that is. Those kids are mostly too young to speak an understandable kind of English.

I won't start about your knowledge of the Dutch language. ;)

So yes, there is a good reason to start another clan, and no: it won't do as much 'damage' -- I don't really think it was -- to the community as Horus did. Unless Dutch would suddenly beat Spanish in being the second world language. I don't see that happen soon.

Omg what is wrong with everyone ? Don't you understand that ngd have to make these deals to improve the whole game in the long run.
I understand that some of you feel left out and pissed at others getting something you havent, but they have to do what they have to do whether we like it or not.

Its no good throwing your dummies out of your pram, if they dont make these deals regnum will not grow and we will be stuck forever with bugs n lag and all the other stuff we put up with because they have no MONEY to make the improvements.

year by year, server by server, we are hoping ngd will get money to improve game, accepting also "somos pocos" arguments too... so far, nada. we ll see that new ngd 2.0, that's the only bright spot left to hope for.

Congrats for yet another successful partnership. First partnership brought us nothing good: fatigue and xp curve changes (you said your partner Gamigo is much experienced in this and thats why you listened them). We ll see what this partnership will bring "good" for our 2 servers, Ra and Horus.

The Ximerin bonus was probably in the terms of the contract and promoting. You have to remember that UnitedGames had a say in this as well. When it comes to the case of Horus its NGD's own server, so they can manage it however they see fit. End of story.

Will be interesting to see how Tyr unfolds, and I must say NGD's marketing technique spins off more and more I see of it :p Only I don't know if its for good or worse.

For now let the hate just boil up nice and easy, I see NGD is already kissy kissy on the delicate server :p

Its their marketing logic, they are apparently satisfied with it. Even when they look at Gamigo and UnitedGames version of how to run a game, I guess they prefer theirs.

For NGD to promote Horus, they must first find publishers. However, publishers usually have their own agendas and they will make their own demands. It's not unusual for publishers to want to run their own servers with a localized version of the game.

Eventually, they will find publishers that would be willing to just have a share of xim sales while leaving their users to sign up straight to an NGD server (Horus).

That's just how it is with most game development firms. They need the publishers to survive, so they need to satisfy their demands.
