I wasn't sure where to put this so move it please if its in the wrong forum. I tested the new movement/strafing on Amun not too long ago and I didn't care for it much. I understand that I can remap the keys to fit the old movement style and this is where my question comes in. Will I be at a disadvantage as a player if I do not strafe?

You'll be at a disadvantage if you don't use mouselook, because they haven't restricted the turning speed at all.

But they have put a casting delay for when you move more than a certain amount. At least last time I checked they did.

For ranged classes only this delay fires out. Also you will be faster running away out of an area or sth with strafing/mouselook.

Honestly I think they should just either cap the mouse-look to the keyboard turn-speed, or do away all together. I never use mouse-look in 3rd person MMOs because it's just not that practical. I'd much rather use WASD for forward and strafe, and Q and E to turn....or swap Q and E with A and D for turn/strafe. It works really well, and just keep the right-click/mouse to look around while auto-running. then in combat, you can still move as needed while clicking what you need to click. That's just what always works logically for me.

Eh, I just hope the positional sync or whatever was out of whack gets improved or resolved. Maybe the part of NGD-2.0 they said they were planning on putting in place will help resolve some of that....who knows.

This topic reminds me of an older video game I loved:

Notice how when the target is "locked" he auto-faces it? It would be nice to have 2 types of strafing to choose from, manual strafing (as NGD is using in 1.07) and an auto-target "circle" strafe, depending on relation to locked-target (so you're always facing your target).

It would make it a lot easier to keep tabs on your target in big battle, imo.
