I have two issues with the current strafing method.
- I have no problem with strafing in general -
Firstly (making controls feel very awkward), pressing A or D without having your right mouse button held down strafes you anyway. In my opinion you should turn normally in this situation, only with the mousekey held down should you strafe with the directional keys. This can be semi-rectified by changing the keys around, but they should do different things when mouse is clicked or not. Rather than be two different pairs of keys for turn/strafing.
What I would want is A = Left turn, D = Right turn, A + Right mouseclick = Strafe left, D + Right mouseclick = Strafe right.
The other point is how clicking your right mouse key, if your character is facing another way, does not put your char facing the direction the camera is. This makes it feel quite clunky when looking behind you, then trying to turn in that direction.
Edit: One more thing, automatic camera orientation and right clicking to instantly centre. I think it should either be an option or default that this only corrects the horizontal/x axis, rather than both x/y. I want to lock my camera height, but have it to automatically centre the horizontal. Fighting on a hillsides D=
This is just how I feel when playing. Comments welcome.
