View Full Version : Suggestion: How to make new players happy

I was thinking of adding Level 30 temporary scroll to shops, that could be bought for gold, and that would give to new players (level 11 - 29) possibility to become level 30 for like a half of hour or so, to participate in RvR battles. (all numbers can be negotiated). Killing mobs under this scroll would give no exp.
Please tell me what you think of this?

Sounds great, but after giving a little more thought into it I came up with this.
Only scroll for lv 30-(Maybe higher lv, 35 or so)
The "casting time" of this scroll should be 10 secs, if you are attacked while casting, it will stop and you will have to try to cast it again.
You can buy this scroll with normal gold, no xim required.
After using this scroll it will pop up a window where you can see all your skill trees (just like when you are at a trainer), you will get acess to pick the set up you want.
When this window pops up all the skills will be at lv 1.
You will have as many skill points and spell points as a lv 30/35 would have.
After finishing your set up and confirming it, you will get teleported to your realm gate.
From that point you have 1 hour to do whatever you want.
You may go back to the normal world at any point, but if you go back manually you will dont be able to resume using the scroll.
IF you do logg out while using the scroll, it will pause. When you come back online you may continue.Crash, afk, brb)
In case of dieing you will ress at wall, or the save that you walked to and saved at.
When the scroll finishes you will be teleported back to the point where you first used the scroll. Your skills/spells will remain the same as before you spent the scroll.
How does that sound? ^^
Edit:
Oh yes, maybe others feel otherwise, but I dont think you should be able to use this scroll when your/any(?) realm gates are in danger, or any invasion is going on.

very nice idea, this way you can see if your class is what you expected it to be and you no longer have to grind your alt up before you can enjoy RvR combat on him.

1 Hour isnt a very long time to be about the Wz, maybe more like 6/7 hours (A full days play for several people)
Certainly seems a good way to get people seeing what the game is all about, but this option should only be available for the first char the player makes on his account, Otherwise I suspect some will just keep remaking chars and play at this level forever.

It just sounds like it'd be easy to abuse and i see a lot of players getting mad when they lose that power and go back to level X instead of level 30. It's a good idea in theory, but i just don't see it working in execution. That's my opinion at least.

maybe, instead of raising temporary your level to 30 they could make a warzone with lvl 30 CAP (so that no high lvl char can enter in) maybe with
just one fortress inside, to let new player gain confidence in pvp without
being annihilated by lvl50 vets...
maybe simply teleporting them (with a scroll? with a quest? )

Sounds good. Like you get a vision of how you will be when you "grow up" and become stronger and more experienced.
A quest combined with this scroll would be great

well, ill be realistic.
i think that something that could actually happen, immediately
is that if servers organized specific times that only people below level 30 could go into WZ and pvp..that way newer players can get the pvp experience against other new players.
Or maybe that is unrealistic too, but what i think would be great is if on a server, everyone organized it so that one of each realms forts could only be captured/defended by players level 30 or below. This would involve the ENTIRE realm during invasions instead of just the level 40+ invading..and everyone below frantically grinding till the day they are 40+ --"
well maybe in theory these would work with a bit of organization...but its doubtful : /

Well the game is small enough and the community is for the most part friendly and helpful, just not always inspired to follow directions =). It could happen, but as you said I wonder what its chances of success actually are.
