View Full Version : Ng#D 2.0-requestng update
Hi NGD,
I would like (and I believe many of us) to see some more info about your new engine we all so wait.
Show us some more promo materials, compare its possibilities and improvements with current one, display results in graph maybe. Also, tell us how things are going with its development, porting to game, when we should expect it, some pics... You know, kind of thread where you update players with happenings related to such an important game things, like new engine, mixed with some teaser materials.
I would like to use opportunity of this thread to ask if dungeons will be supported, capes, will there be improvements of GUI, will they have new look (if yes, can we see some screenies? ) and so on...
I know there were many threads related with new engine, but I would not like to discuss here about it again, just requesting bit more materials and info about it.
Edit: pardon for mistype in title

I am also very interested in news about the new engine.

We need more info about what will change and what will be inherited from 1.x to make useful suggestions and bug reports.

maybe you aren't hearing because there are nothing new, it would make sense that ngd wants to promote their game as much as possible to the community (specially the new cools things.) Whatever happened to sit back and relax? It'll come when it'll come and maybe they wanna give us some surprises (which would be cool)
If ngd should publish something it should be the reasons for their changes, and watch the reaction of the community, this way predicting the feature and securing their game will be easier

I'd also like to see something, although I'm not convinced that new graphics would be the best thing. The game looks nice right now and better graphics always means not being able to play because of hardware issues anymore.
And please don't change the look of the GUI, it's all nice and simple :)

I tend to agree, current graphics aren't that bad.
UI need few improvements (multiple spellbars, fully configurable controls, ...)
But please NGD, stick to KISS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KISS_Principle) principle.
We need improvements in gameplay, game depth, ergonomics... and FUN.
Semi-nude girls as avatars will not change anything for players.
If new engine have no visual impact, but still is easier to maintain, faster, less prone to bugs, then i 'll vote yes for it.

A lot of reviewers who are non-biased and from large(ish) companies have noted the graphics and been described as not fantastic in more than a couple of reviews. Im guessing NGD wants to appeal a bit more to the masses, as many people want to join something that LOOKS good as well as plays well.
And of course if the new engine is faster and causes less bugs *touches wood* then its good all round. :)
P.S. I dont agree with the new female mages costumes D:

P.S. I dont agree with the new female mages costumes D:
I don't get why people are complaining about the new female mage constumes! As a female and with my main character as a mage, I think they look lovely.
They're prettier and not over-the-top like most other games. They're very tasteful, in my opinion.
But yesh, I think we are all curious as to what other changes the new engine will be bringing us, so more information is always wanted.

Translated by me and Google translate:
Updating technology involves visual and / or performance improvements . The question is if your PC is powerful enough to handle the new graphic modes with new effects. Without the new post processes, effects or shadows the game should run faster (even with the new view distance).
The current version of Regnum is very CPU bound. The new version will depend more on the video card, so those who have a recent card will see a big increase in visual quality but also in performance. This does not mean that no improvements will be done when it comes to CPU performance.
For example we implemented a new terrain system, which can boost your view distance farther (much farther) and still be less laggy. Another big improvement is related to the rendering of many characters (which improves performance in big battles).
As for the GPU support and how we will define the 4 basic presets of rendering:
- Basic Mode: Runs on cards without support for Shaders 2.0 ( ie GeForce 2MX ). That means it will run on any supported card and is now the default preset for non nVidia / ATI cards.
- Mode 2 Shader Model: Works with GeForce FX, ATI Radeon 9500 and any other board that supports Shader Model 2.0 / OpenGL 2.0.
- Shader Model 3 Mode: Works with GeForce 6 series, Radeon X1000 series or higher.
- Deferred mode *: GeForce 8000 series, Radeon 2000 series or higher. Preferably 8800, 9600 or higher for nVidia and Radeon HD3850 / HD4770 or higher in the case of ATI.
All of these modes will be available in all supported operating systems (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Linux).
* Not confirmed yet so it may be released later.
Besides, each of the new effects may be turned on and off individually from the options panel, as it works now.
Still no dates, but during August / September we will start the beta period (on Amun).
With regard to the requirements ... They will be updated, especially the minimum required amount of memory (I think the page still says 256MB). In theory, a clean system (not running thousands of programs and processes in the background) should be able to play the game lagfree with 1GB, maybe even 512 (not sure).

As a female, I personally just find them a bit too showy and not really fit for fighting a battle with. Dont think of me as a nun or anything...the boots look hooker like with their straps and the skirt is just really short. Its like the new animation walk all over again. Honestly, if you were going into battle against barbarians wielding large swords and all sorts of sharp stuff, realistically Id choose a more covered armour than a mini skirt. Same goes for the sleeveless part - this isnt a fashion show, its war. :D
P.S The info sounds great, can do all that on my PC, so go NGD :)

Maybe they add some stunning ability to mini skirts! :D
Personally I think they mage models are ok. But it's definately at the border. But in other mmorpgs it's even worse.

They're going to introduce a new armour type "Bikini Chainmail"
It's the best armour in the entire game, cannot be worn with any other armour type, and is only available to female characters.

Me too.
Anyway, if they already started to model stuff like that, they wont change it now, no matter how much we complain.
So.. heh.
The new engine is going to enter beta this month or the next, i doubt they will upload the art, but anyway.. something to look forward.
Anyway.. WHOS THAT POKEMON?
1) Really really really small armored skirt(?)
2) belt (wtf)
