What do you guys think about the press saying "Aika is.."

Aika is the FIRST f2p RvR fantasy mmorpg. Evne though regnum does exist and is f2p. So what do all of you think about the media saying this? Now i've not played Aika since well it's in cbt and also it's a gpotato game which means it's probably not going to be that good in the end and be very very cash shop heavy game.

I just wanted to know how the community felt about the press saying all of this.

If they changed it to first mass marketed in the north american market then it would be closer to home, as it stands I have already seen Kailer post about it back in May I believe on some site asking them to seriously reconsider branding it the first due to overwhelming evidence supporting otherwise.

That's about where the similarities seem to end though. Aika is an MMO of South Korean descent and definitely has the look and sound effects. The MMO will also be free to play (just how free, we don't know yet), boast sophisticated voice-overs, and come packaged in a tiny 300MB download. And then there's the interesting (some might say creepy) "Pran system." Prans are kind of like pets from traditional MMOs, except that they are young girls. Amazing how games are getting more and more crappier the more companies you have with the aim of stealing customers from other games.

I was lucky to find 2 male character screenshots :P I fail to see how this will be RvR, let alone a video game.

Its brutal, I have little business cards and even a free poster,
they kept saying it would be the biggest MMO of the century.

I laughed as I thought of WoW and went home to play Regnum.

Just did a google search on 'Aika' It got spell checked as 'Ikea' Xd So moved onto a Image search, seems there is another 'Aika' around try it, and you will see what I mean xD

well they tried cute games aka Flyff/Luna Online didn't do too well on those. They tried pretty nice graphics aka Rappelz but it also lacked anything except cash shop addicts and PnC the entire time. So then they're like what HAVEN'T we tried yet? OH some guy says as they see their buisness rating of an F from the bbb as they're about to be closed due to horrible custom service.

Let's try RvR. Then some guy said hmm we need a hook to try to get people to play it. So they made it so that you could have a loli and then train her up into a real woman and have her as a nice little sex slave. Also the graphics are decent b/c they're trying to get those who play for graphics.

I will agree that it's the first f2p mass marketed soon to be failure of the RvR world. I stopped playing flyff after i realized that i couldn't do even remotely decent unless i had ~500usd a month to blow on a game. I never spent one cent on that game since it was extremely lacking in anything.

Also talking about wow makes me think of their next xpac "cataclsym" just from reading what they're doing it truly is their make it or break it time. I'd say that either they don't do the changes for some of the classes such as hunters having focus and actually add some newer things besides, quest, raid, raid, raid, raid then you can pvp or they'll die. As Aion came out pretty recently and looks pretty good but i'm not up for p2p.

So it seems that Gpotato's finally falling, blizzard's starting their trip down hill and about to commit their suicide. And regnum's still here just kinda doing what it has been for so long. Slowly gaining numbers and slowly adding a few things in to make it pretty awesome when they're added.

So till spring 2010 i guess i'll hang out and watch and see who updates the most and if i see somethign i like i might play an mmo again. Here's to hoping crafitng eventually makes its way into regnum.
