I'm alrdy a level 10 warrior and have to fiqure out if i want to be a knight or a barbarian? ive herd the knight class is not as good as the barbarian class because its defense and leveling just isnt worth it. I would just like some feedback from experienced players from both sides on why i should choose either a barbarian or a knight. Thank you!

Knight is considered to be the most difficult and boring class to grind with and it probably is one of the least rewarding one too, once you have reached a higher stage.

I'd recommand barb, I've levelled one a bit too (only up to 37) but it went quite easily and quickly and it's fun to play in the warzone too, I think. Probably more than knight nowadays...

Hey there,

I can't speak for barbarian but i will tell you what i like and don't like about knights.

For a list of pros: - I like having a high Hit Point reserve (this is close to where the pros end)
- I like the general idea of being a tank for allies and taking the damage.
- I actually enjoy the challenging gameplay as a knight especially being one of the slower moving classes and melee, not to mention doing hardly any damage if played correctly. When you kill someone it is generally a hard earned kill if you are in a true knight setup.
- I like the versatility of the class. It can be set up to do a little higher damage with less defense and control, or can be in a high control setup with knock downs, dizzies, (theoretically) high defense.

Cons(fasten your seatbelt, there are a lot of these at the present time):
- Knight is probably the slowest class in the game to grind to level 50.
- Due to many bugs and lag warriors have a hard time hitting their targets at melee range, what you see isn't always true...if you are right next to someone they may be behind you :p
- Knights are rather slow passively. So it is a long run to get into melee range when the target keeps backpeddling and immobilizing or knocking you.
- Knights are supposed to be tanks...which is kind of a fail since for a start lvl 50 knight armor is arguably the worst set of level 50 armor in the game, their armor points aren't really anything special. Their defensive buffs are a joke, they have maybe 3 and caution is shared with barbs. They don't tank....they pretend they can. They are slow enough that they can be easily left to pick off at the end of a fight and thus rendering them almost useless to the defense of their allies. They have no real spells to take the brunt of the damage off their allies.
- A knight doesn't do damage much either. There are 'knarbs' who are knights that set up specifically to max their damage output. These are effectively wanna be barbarians with 100 more armor points and 300 more health. The damage doesn't even come close.

So there is a little bit, I'm sure I left some out but I'm tired :p Hope this helps some.

Go with Barbarian, you won`t regret being able to do normals of 1050 dmg. Most knights can't do that much damage with a Cross lvl5.
Knights are grossly underpowered and their defences have been diluted to such an extent that knights now hide behind front lines, far from ranged attacks.
Knights have been nerfed repeatedly on each and every update applied to game over last 2 years.
The ultimate nerf is having made it nearly impossible to shield bash an opponent into a dizzy state. Without an effective shield, all the knight does is die. Not to mention that a Knight pays a VERY high price in points and mana to manage his shield (precise block lasts only 30 seconds and usually fails to protect the knight).
Mages kill anything that wears heavy armour easily. Knights have nearly no defence versus arrows and most level 43+ hunters will destroy a knight 50 without pulling so much as a sweat (Pets inflict way too much damage and the hunter runs at will, ambush can't be blocked, etc)

Too bad though, the Knight is a beautiful fighting machine. Some classes use 3 spells only during a fight. The knight needs to punch, kick, disable limb, bash, block, hack, spawn caution, charge, block and south cross his way to victory. In the current state of the game, however, the Knight is by far, very far, the worst class in the game.

You can thank the crybabies in these forums for this sorry state of affairs. Shame.

I'm not going to quote the others as they make their points as they see fit.

I however see it a bit differntly.
My first char was a lock, hes now 50, so time to grind up the second one -a knight- currently lvl 48.

Heres the real breakdown:
A barb is for damage. Thats 'what they do'. Thats how they are skilled, but they are therefore easier to kill.

Knights are support class. They tank and protect the weaker classes, any one that says they don't has the wrong setup.
To all my conj's still alive, your welcome.

Properly skilled and played they are tough little buggers encased in steel.
Their role should be played as above. But you can also knarb.
I think people who have a hard time playing any class, do so because they chose something that doesn't fit into their playing style, and can't adapt to that new way of thinking/playing.

In a fort war, I will usually try to stand between the enemy and the conjs.
Without the conjs, life it hard. If you want the conj, ya gotta go through me.
Contrary to the other posts, I personally don't get knocked down easily. I also have been tracking logs from fort battles and I have an 89% resist rate to mind squash [5]. Play a knight on ignis and I'll tell you my secret.

Don't get me wrong, I die, ALOT. But when I do get knocked down and ultimately killed, it takes many of the enemy to do so. Meanwhile the barbs and locks and even archers are exacting a precious price on the enemy for being focused on me.

I guess in short, play what you feel. Are you an aggressive player that needs to spill blood? or do you see the benefit in tactics, support, planning and restraint?

A knight can have a variety of setups and be a very fun class to play in war. Barbarians hit hard.

I have barbarian, but I also started knight now.
I agree that some people claming that knight is weak, cannot play it.
The role of knight is to protect and help by knocking down enemies and disturbing them.

Now compare, how many CC spells has barb and how many has knight, and stop reproducting this "protect" lie. In fact barb has better tools for protecting others than knight. Knights aren't weak, but your vision of playing knight-protector is deadly boring.

What do knights have more than barbarians? The have much better damage, almost the same crowd control and the defence of barbarians is almost the same as those of knights except for Army of One.

Well, i'd make a knight, barbarian dies to fast, has to rest after like 5 mobs.
A knight (in Tyr atleast) could run into a group of 5-6 people and come out alive. If I as a barbarian would run into a group of not more than 3 I would be dead in like 10 seconds... it's just not normal how fast barbarians die.

i have a lvl 50 knight and regularly play a lvl 50 barb,

Imo knight is the only choice i could make. With knight fully buffed i have 5085 hp more than 1k above the barb and when rushing a fort the barb gets mangled easily by marks etc. it just gets frustrating. With dmg reduction passives also a knight can stand on their own without Army of one for quite some time.

i also hit an 850 south cross 4 on most conjs/locks primary target for knights. So i wouldnt exactly call me "weak" either. (before people yell knarb i have all 3 weapon trees lvl 15 and the only dmg+ spells i have skilled are acurate and sc 4)

That isnt a reason to be a must. I don't even have ONE offensive skill, but that's not a big deal. With my other skills I can help my mates killing those knights who use SC :D

I can beat knarbs actually ^^ And I won't use something just because 85% of the knights use it.

Fine... Fine... Its not a must(I chose the wrong word), how about a "nice to have?" (trying to be funny)

Again I was trying to be funny: "can't beat em join em"

Next time I'll have my wife proof my posts before sending them... uggg... sorry

ok so i was reading this forum earlier about knight or barbarian, however i saw it was from 2010 so i was wondering if anything has changed, because it basically said knight was overpowered by knight. i am new to the game and have only just got to level 10 so have to choose between knight and barbarian. sorry to bring back old forums!
Thanks

If you want to deal high damage and don't mind much if you die often, it is better for you to pick Barbarian.
Knight survives longer and gives allies buffs or help allies with a spell that takes away negative powers such as knock down, dizzy, freeze.

Knight takes more time to level up, but you can also start with RvR (the warzone) at lower levels than as Barbarian. IMHO playing a knight in warzone can already be quite fun at level 38, as Barb you better wait until lvl 48 or so.

On the Haven server Alsius has many knights, Ignis has more Barbarians than knights and lacks knights IMHO.

Lol Ignis hardly lacks knights, in fact a lot of people in every realm are starting to play knight again.

If I count the active warzone players of Ignis, there are considerably more barbarians than knights. That's what I meant.

My cynical view is that a knight's skill set can be fun but all it really does is mean the knights' death is much slower. You will usually be the last man standing before getting pounded by barbs and warlocks from the other side.

All the protection and buffs you get come at a cost if you want to be a tank then forget doing big damage and expect to to be spammed by slow spells and mana draining. The knight can end up being an extra mana pool for a mages, particularly warlocks with SS because he lasts longer so won't die before his mana is gone.

Knight can be a really asset when paired with other classes but once separated and usually left behind, catching up with the action can be a problem and if your pals are dead skip to paragraph 1.

If you want to live fast, hit hard and die young go for barbarian.

Move deaf roar to knights, I say.
